NOT a whole pie. A piece of warm, fresh from the oven, with ice cream on it, pie. I wanted to eat the whole thing but not before bed.

Staying pretty close to home doing a lot of little things. Now that campinspecter is picking blackberries, I will be washing, freezing and jamming them. We picked plums at Mom's so I have been jamming and drying those. We made a trip down to watch "The secret lives of Pets". It was pretty funny. Nice to see the progress pics of your "logging operation"

Hope you have a good harvest of the berries! We saw the movie as well. And as I sit here and look at my dogs laying here in the air conditioning. The life of Riley I tells ya. That movie was crazy, funny and crazy.

As for the logging. It is hard to describe, and if the lighting isn't right, tough to get good pictures. But I walked all through trails again today. Because they have opened up several more in the last two weeks. They have almost all the cutting done. Now they have a LOT of skidding time over the next two, maybe three weeks. And only one skidder. They hopefully will be done by the end of August. But it could be into the first half of September as well. Depends on the weather and how the equipment is doing. Some days it has been so hot they have to let them sit for a while because they are getting close to overheating. Then they blow out the radiators and go at it again. The trails are going to be great for property access. I am very excited about that. There are so many stumps! (And they are only taking about 50% of the trees.) So it is going to take a long time to pull them all out, a BIG project. I will have to tackle it a little at a time. Maybe do one main trail the first time I rent an excavator. Then wait a while and do some others trails the next time. Thinking on that. When you rent the machine they charge you for delivery, both ways.o_O It's expensive. I need to make sure I rent one that is powerful enough so I am not fighting with the stumps. But not too big so it is easier to get around the woods with it. We'll see.

Here in the woods when it is dry and hot, they are only allowed to work early mornings (sometimes just as the sun comes up) and the humidity has to be at a certain level. any time it drops below that level, they are shut down. More forest fires have been started by lines crossing over lines and sparking.

Interesting rules Woodwidow. Sounds wise. The good thing about how dry it is here is that they have gone through places they would normally not be able to if wet. And would be making a lot of muddy, deep ruts where they could get through. That is a plus. Now it looks like we will get some rain Friday and Saturday. And do we ever need it. :picard:Some are having problems with their wells. We had a fire not too far from here recently, I think caused by lightening. Luckily a half dozen fire departments descended on it and it rained later. image.jpeg image.jpeg

    Balancing act. image.jpeg

I took down three trees inside the yard. The tractor with the grapple is handy. This allowed me to drop them on the other side then go out and move them so the skidder can take them away.

Humid as it gets this morning. Big boomers came through last night. Much needed rain. Dogs were scared to death. May take the day off from wood today. Not sure yet.

90° today. No rain at all. Maybe tomorrow night we'll get rain. Probably not though as the trend has been going. Tomorrow is supposed to be even hotter.

It was the 11th day over 90 this summer, and one of the driest too.

I guess I shouldn't talk. I passed on dessert tonight, Heath Klondike bar. It'll be there tomorrow for me.
