    sawing logs into lumber ain't "young boys work". I used to try to make everything into lumber, no more. Now I only make lumber out of cherry, maple and walnut.
    But, great post, looks like some nice material

    I've got a lot of pine to saw that resembles the log in the second-to-last photo. Basically a knotty mess with a lot of sweep. What were you able to get out of something like that?

    That is one heck of a nice set up. You have to live in the country around here to do that or the neighbors object to the noise of the machine running. One of the many reasons I went in 1000 ft off the main road. I have a couple neighbors but mostly they don't object anymore. I can't see their houses from mine so that seems about right.
    So, what do you have in mind for all that lumber?

    sure did,the lumber pile above is what we got from 4 pine logs ,approx. 35-40 4x4s and a pile of 2x4s ,here it is loaded on the trailer ,and the pile of slabs. the slabs cut and split filled a tacoma 5 times DSCN0219.JPG DSCN0203.JPG

    let them object,i have to listen to there lawn service crews ,im sure the people in all these new houses think they moved in next to the clampetts ,the regular folks who have been here 50 plus years dont mind ,the lumber will be used for shed and barn building projects at my friends house . and believe it or not this thing is not that loud ,those riding mowers are much louder .

    thanks, if i was building a new house it would not be in this state ,i wonder if well seasoned wants a neighbor ? he is in my dream location.

    I feel as though some of the new house people are changing, melenials? And they are more open minded about things.
    Growing up people would build next to a farm then complain about the noise and smell. Now it seems people want the country feel.

    IMO that's one of the best uses for white pine. Its stable easy to dry, nail,work its light etc.

    Beautify job, unclefess!! That kind of work is very near and dear to me. My buddy recently bought an LT15 mill, he's been running quite a bit of pine for dimensional lumber. Im,gonna use some of those for framing my future woodshed.

    I got a huge elm log down at his place that I'm gonna mill into boards for a special project. I'll do a post when we get to milling that log.
