I walked back to my pile and had a mild breakdown tonight! The new job might make us a pellet house and my brain can't handle only pellets! I'll probably end up in the doghouse for bad attitude!

Really isn't much left I sold almost 20 cord to help with the job change and still have about 12 cord and maybe two left to split. Man I am falling behind now! All those pretty saws not getting dirty! The woods are calling! ( that could be a soap opera name).

How are all my long lost friends doing? It's been a while! I'm having withdrawl issues here folks!

I've been cutting and scrounging free wood off CL. Or will find 7-10 truck loads worth of piles for $100-200. Been doing this off and on the last 2.5 years. When I get some knotty or messy pine or less desiarable woods I process it and sell it to recoup my cost and also put some $ in the vacation fund. I'm at 20 cords css oak, ash, elm, maple, and cherry. Some sorted some not. Do you process and sell that much each year? Or you just sold that much to help with funds. I couldn't imagine doing that every year if thats the case. It taken me 2.5 yrs to aquire enough to get that far ahead and thats giving up a lot of hobby time... fishing, softball, some hunting, etc. Glad you found time to make it back! Now go get them saws dirty!

Good to see you back on. Hopefully the new job is going good so far. :handshake: You'll get caught back up, even if you have to rely on the pellets a little more heavily for a couple of years.

Heck, burn whatever you have until you get caught up. Right now, I think oil is cheaper than pellets. Propane and natural gas isn't bad either. If you and the lady are staying warm, well that is enough. You have been through a lot of change lately, just don't let any of it beat you up.

Pete, glad to know your doing well.. I am not the fabled 3 to 4 years ahead yet either.. got about 12 cord css.. 3 to 4 cord more in stages.. do not know how many years that is as last year was soooo warm and new Ideal steel burned much less.. I do know getting ahead by yourself when you burn 10 plus cord a year and are as slow as me.... is hard... hope the family is happy with new job.. and stay warm this winter

At one point I had 40 full cord o_O!

I did sell fire wood for a couple years and made good money but the work involved takes away from other things I could be doing. Their wasn't a lot of down time when I css and then sold firewood it was go go go work come home split stack sell..... :hair: Now ill sell the occasional face cord here and there but thats never planned. Firewood is one of my hobbies mainly because I love saws and the woods. All but one of my saws are really modified.... The one that isn't is a major pain in the butt at times. It argues with me constantly to get going.  But when it does go lord that monster cuts! :sherlock::dremel::saw::saw::saw:

You sound like you have a good thing going for firewood too! We are blessed to have lots of friends who know my addiction so I can cut just about anywhere I want these days but before that I also scrounged like crazy...... You having 20 cord is a real achievement to be proud of! :woodsign: Question is how many of the neighbours think you have lost it and gone insane! Thats a good measure of success!

How have you been my friend? Havnt chatted at all in months have we?:picard:

We where actually trying to sell the pellet stove now that the new fancy shmansy furnace heating thingo_O  is installed as backup! ( I know for shame Pallet Pete installed a furnace ) That probably isnt gonna happen now. The wife really needs the warmer heat due to he thyroid issues so we may need to wait a little longer now.

We went a few winters on just wood because I am stubborn and wouldn't buy a new furnace.... This year will cost more no matter what we do. The new furnace is going to be backup mainly but now we actually have an on switch that connects to a heater. That feels odd.  We recounted last night I think we are up to 14 cord right now so I may hit 20 again before winter hits if I get moving.

Thanks Larry! Its not beating me up just bumming me out. Things have gone well with the job change and I didn't end up needing to sell all that firewood after all. O well it just means i can pump more race fuel into my saws.:D

Isn't that a great feeling! Less wood more heat I mean. We had the same experience when we went from a smoke dragon to an epa stove! Simply amazing difference. Now we have upgraded to the Jotul and its the best stove I have had hands down. We went from 8 to 10 cord a winter to avg 3.5 cord! Hopefully your ideal steel will drop that much wood use too...

Pete, don't forget if you need a place to cut more wood. Or if you ever run out, just take from our stacks.

Can you drain enough milk out of those tanks to keep yourself from buying any?  Man, I miss the days when we'd just go to the milkhouse and skim the cream off the top of the cans. Made some fantastic ice cream and whipped cream with that.

We have both Pallet Pete , that pellet stove saved my lazy azz a few times when I woke up late in the recliner and I didn't want to start a fire in the wood stove.
