LOL! Scotty...I hate to think of it but we may not have our chainsaws someday if the world keeps spinning in an odd direction. Looking forward to seeing the cross-cut saw(s) at the get together.
I'm going to clean them up a little and sharpen them here over the holiday......I'll take some pictures.
I know I'm just a newbie (promise, I'll update my profile soon), but these old saws are still very useful. I travel a 24 mile wooded stretch, every day, as part of my commute to work. With the amount of downed trees across the road through the course of the year, my bucksaw, crosscut, axe, hatchet and tow-chains that I keep in my pick-up get plenty of use. And no fuel smell in the cab. Although, I'll agree, they look pretty hanging on the wall, they've still got some life left in them. Put em to work. Hope I didn't offend anyone. Enjoy reading all your posts and hope you'll welcome me into your "family".
We're glad to have you, Art! Nothing wrong with going "old skool" and using hand saws......gets the blood pumping sometimes!!
Welcome. Keep posting more so we can learn about your setup. Glad to have a new member throwing his ideas into the mix.
welcome frome here don't let what I said chase u off. I like saws and any excuse to use them is what I like
Welcome to the forum Art! Those saws are still sharp but lots of work! I have a newer bow saw that I use every once a great while and the old saws will be decorative though.. Ray
I agree with you clemsonfor. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather "work smarter, not harder". But, I don't always have a gas saw in the truck - I do always have the tools I mentioned. The crazy winter we've been having will give me a good start on next year's wood pile By the way, thanks all of you for "welcoming me aboard"
One of my Aunts has a thing for "antiques"... Their place is like a craft show almost, can't hardly move around without fear of messing up something or getting hurt. Anyhow she had one of those saws under the couch with the teeth facing the front. I'm sitting on the couch no clue there is a saw with about 50 razor sharp teeth about 1/2" from my feet. I move a foot to let someone by and I about cut my foot off on it. She has another mounted over the toilet about head level when sitting.
