I never used one before. Just for the heck of it I want to get one to play around with. I burn dry wood that's been on the stacks at a minimum 2 years but I wanna do some experimenting. Point me in the right direction guys! Preferably I'd like to order it online.
This one has stood the test of time, easy to replace 9 volt battery, mine even got rained on and still works, you can pick one up at the Home Depot also. https://www.amazon.com/General-Tool...553270_1_2?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1470028625&sr=1-2
I have the same one as bushpilot......bought it maybe 3 years ago.....didn't really need mine either but a man has to have a few toys.
If you have a smartphone, Android or apple, this is by far the best bang for your buck. $23 now. Ryobi Phone Works Moisture Meter ES3000 at The Home Depot - Mobile I love mine, it's a great tool, and if you tag the pics, you'll never forget and can track the moisture of what you have.
I think mine is that same General but I don't remember it costing that much at Lowes. It has been a couple of years so who knows for sure.
Cool find! Is it accurate on firewood? Looks like it uses some sort of frequency scan rather than sticking into the wood and measuring resistance... ?
It senses MC just like any other mm. It's accurate too. There only difference is that it uses your smartphone or tablet as a display, camera, and data logger ( pun intended).
I bought one shipped from china and it was only a few dollars. It works as far as I can tell. And it's kind of a gimmick and toy. I pull it out to kind of check the status of wood though out the drying process or if I cut some dead wood and just curious how wet/dry it actually is.
