I've been doing some camping with the family this week and I thought I'd share a few pics.

This is Thirty Mile Point Lighthouse. It's the located at Nothernmost point of the South shore of Lake Ontario.

You can actually rent the lighthouse itself as your campsite, but the one we're at is the best one in my opinion. Actually we rented 2 adjacent camp sites at the west end of the park, so we basically have that whole end to ourselves.

This is a wedding gift I made for some friends. Did the lettering and finish today. Black Locust, milled from one of my trees.

I love me some camping. We just went last weekend for a quick one then we have another planned in Aug for 5 days. We try to go at least once a month or more.

That sure does look like a nice site. It's nice when you have a big site like that you can basically forget that there is anyone else at the park with you. With the beach right there you would never have to leave.

How bigs the family if you don't mind me asking? What's the wooden structure? Rain shelter? Nice looking setup man.
I could only dream of having an rv at this point in my life. Though I don't mind tent camping with an air mattress either. Just anything to be able to get away and relax some.

Me, my girlfriend, my parents, my sisters family (4 kids) and two dogs. My parents and my sister have the RVs - I've got the green tent. The wooden structure is a little rain shelter / pavilion thats part of the camp site.

We go camping at least once every summer. We always have a great time - need to do it more often.

    Nice!

It's tough sometimes to get that many bodies together in one place for the whole weekend.

My parents have been wanting to get our family together camping for the weekend this year and it hasn't happened. It's just them two. Me and my girlfriend. My brother and his wife and their two kids. It's hard to get everyone's schedule to work out.

Is this a state park or????? Looks like a nice place.

Yep, Golden Hill State Park. It is really nice - there's some hiking trails thru the woods and a nice playground for the kids too. There's not much of a beach but that hasn't stopped the kids from swimming.

    Doing some macremé chairs today.

    Like the chairs.

That's about all we stay at is state parks or state campgrounds. Except when we go riding atvs and dirt bikes in baldwin. Then we have a spot on state forest we like to stay. Nice thing about our state parks/campgrounds in Michigan is they all offer some sort of water access. I now wonder if all states are like this?

Here's wishing onto you and the family a great time Shawn. And nice gift you gave!

My wife and I too miss camping. It is something we did from the first year we got married. We had tents then finally picked up a nice pop-up many moons ago. Also have had 2 motor homes which are really nice when traveling. We've thought about getting another pop-up but haven't yet. The tents would be fine if our bodies could manage it but we've found as we age a bit, things aren't so easy.

Looks like a good sized park. Finally got a chance to look at it on Google maps. Makes me wanna head out on an adventure right now.

I have done that using macrame cord and forgot to leave a bit of slack. they were lovely looking chairs but you couldn't fold them up. what material did you use to do the macrame?

It's 6mm macreme cord. My mom bought a whole bunch of it off eBay I think she said.

My sister and I each made one on a family camping trip when we were kids. My mom had found a couple really nice chair frames that the neighbors were tossing. We both still have them. So it's been a camping craft project idea for a while.

Unfortunately I have to finish mine at home. Went to a wedding yesterday and it started raining today. I came up with the pattern myself.
