I have no advice for getting to sleep...other than getting yourself one of those "off" switches that my wife says I have on my ears... 'cuz as soon as my ear hits the pillow...I'm out, she says sometimes I'll even cut out in mid sentence... She is the one that has trouble getting to sleep, and since I'm almost always the first to go, if I start to snore, she has little hope of getting sleep without leaving the room, so we tried having her go to bed first...but then I wake her up when I come to bed...so yeah, its been a problem.
schlot Falling asleep doesn't seem to be a problem here; rather-falling back asleep once I've woken during the night. Usually get a few hours (3-4) before the battle starts. Sometimes I fall back asleep, but just as equal number of times (if not greater)k I don't get back asleep. I don't think that the work is an issue with you since you are usually posting about being busy. How is your caffeine intake? Or late meals? May have to try something like that, no?
I eat pretty early...6ish and only have a Mt Dew in the early am then after lunch. I too wake up nightly...right around 2am, but I can fall back asleep pretty well. My mind just has a hard time shutting down I guess. Not really bad though as I usually get enough sleep...and I can sleep through anything once asleep. Just ask my bride.
I myself have a beer or two most nights. I work weekends and the Thursdays before the weekend starts I have my most problems falling asleep, I try my best to be home relaxing and have supper ate up and taken care of by at least 6 if not earlier. Try to be in bed by 830 and up at 5am for 3 12 hour days. If by 730 my mind is racing after a brew or 2 and I have no indication of getting sleepy I'll grab a benadryl. I hate taking any pills but I'll take a decent night's rest with a pill over an extremely long day being tired stating at a bright light through my welding helmet being warm cozy andwell looks like I get to use the grinder! After working a 12 on concrete I'm usually wiped out enough to fall asleep without any aid but Thursday nights are rough.
This is me too, Yoop.... My problem is, I fall back asleep about 10 minutes before the 6 am alarm goes off Then I in between a few "snooze" mashings.... Sometimes I'll make it thru the night, but not often.....
I usually do not have any issues with this, but something that does help is take a few scriptures and try running them through my mind to memorize them. It seems to shift my focus from the days events or the things I need to do and I'm off to sleep. This works well also if you are being tempted with inappropriate thoughts, anger, bitterness, etc.
I turn the TV on and leave it on all night and also sleep with the lights on. If the TV is off I have a hard time falling asleep. Wake up in the morning turn the lights and TV off. When I was a kid our house lights were always on all night, when you told somebody where you lived they would say "Oh the house with all the lights on all the time. We never had a TV until I was a senior in high school as my Mom was a librarian, so most of the time I would be up reading until 1 or 2 in the morning. Gary
I decompress late at night by watching late night talk shows, then if that didn't chill me out, I turn on mind numbing TV like "call of the wild man", "finding Bigfoot", or storage wars. I have a few drinks too. I am a good sleeper, I can sleep anywhere. My wife said it's a trait of Pisces, which I am.
Only time I've ever had issues sleeping was when I had a herniated disk.(l5-s1) Other than that I'm fortunate that I put my head on the pillow and fall asleep. On rare instances I'll lay down with something on my mind and toss a little but that doesn't happen often.
This may change soon, since my work schedule will change soon, but working roughly 11 hrs/day a very busy labor intensive job, once I turn out the light and try to sleep, im out in minutes. Like now, im struggling to stay awake. anyone here fall asleep on their tablet or phone in bed while on FHC? Yup, I have
..... My name is shaggy the wood dump hoarder (*mumble mumble mumble* hi shaggy) and i have something to share with you all today, I have an addiction to doing exactly that...
What works for me is a little reading lamp and any kind of non-fiction reading: Tax code, Stephen Hawking, Networking training books, medical tomes, Unix user manual, etc. 10 minutes max and my brain slams shut.
Well Monday is 8 hours to start up the facility then its off to the races with off shift hours of 1:30am to 1:30pm for the next 4 days... Day 1 and 2 are usually not too bad its those last day or two that start effecting my body. So I usually try to take naps over the weekend to catch up on my sleep.
Do you guys ever have any issues with your knees, ankles, and lower legs going into a numb like pain ridden zone after going to bed? I know after pounding 10 to 13 hours on the concrete I'll come home sometimes and my legs are so fatigued that they like a limp noodle. That's usually one of the reasons I cant get to sleep, it'll keep me awake for a while, till I get relaxed...
Yes, run into that, couple buffrin solve that for me. Sometimes I will get some nasty cramps- can be anywhere below the waist- believe me when I say those get my attention quickly and will blast me out of sound sleep. after that all bets are off until the next cycle.
At times the body hurts. When I'm sleeping, different limbs get tingly and numb like they are falling asleep
I sleep on the futon/couch most nights. I have the TV going (sound a low #4 to something that isn't a drama - Big Bang Theory is good if it is on). Currently there is a window fan on, during winter it is the pellet stove fan for white noise. Best way to immediately start going under is to be petting a cat. I fall asleep very quickly if both are by me, pretty quickly if one is at my side, and not so quickly (or sometimes not at all) if there are no cats sharing my pillow. A lot of the times, but not always, I wake up around 1 or 2 and go to bed, where I have no trouble falling back to sleep (I haven't slept in my bed since Monday morning - the couch has seen all my sleeping the last several days). The alarm goes off at 3:30 (if it gets to go off), I get to work by 5:30 and I'm good until lunch. a 10-20 minute nap during lunch, and I'm good until between 10 and 11 pm (depending on how late I have to work)
No i never really get numb or tingly, but just extremely sore some days, especially Sundays, depending on what I was working on. Some days I'm on ladders crawling on the floor or on the roof of a train cab welding or some days I get to sit all day some days it's standing all day. I always come home sore, just a matter of how sore. Got new insoles? I need to get new boots and or insoles, after the first weekend with new insoles it's a HUGE NOTICEABLE difference. I guess your supposed to put new insoles in every 3 or so months
