Is linden wood good firewood? Huge tree just fell at neighbors and debating on if it's worth chopping up for wood?

I wouldn't go out of my way for it. But if it's easy to get to, might be worth your time.

It would make a nice shoulder season wood. 13.7mbtu's per cord. It's ranked right in there with Poplar. Looking at the searchable chart in resources, it weighs the same per cord and take 12 months to season. Look under "Basswood."

Personally, I wouldn't turn my nose up at it, but then I'm not finicky. If it's wood, I'll burn it! :D

From the sounds of it and the Internet search it's not a wood to care for and go nuts about so, if there is any left I'll take some if not I'll keep looking for downed trees

I spent time c/s/s some Basswood years ago, we ended up burning most of it for kindling.

I won't spend very much time cutting Basswood unless mother nature puts it across the trail.

You can always mix it in with some better wood.

Cut all of it you can get your hands on, it will keep you and three others warm, running back and forth to keep a fire in the stove. Slightly better that toilet paper tubes.

It's decent wood, and it dries fast. Great for starting fires and fire shoulder season. I have a good half cord of it in my stacks for this fall. I've been burning a bit of it in the outdoor fire pit too. It's light as well, so less chance for a hernia. ;)
