I've got a husqvarna 445, and a friend at work has some chains and 2 bars that he just wants to get rid of, so I brought it all home to see if it's all compatible, and I'm a little stumped, right now I'm running a Stihl rs with a 18" total bar, and he has a 14" McCulloch bar with 1 chain and a Husqvarna 16"bar with some Oregon chains, I'm looking to downsize the bar because I have 2 372xps with 20"bars and a 660 with a25, and the 445 is a little underpowered with the 18"imo. The stihl chain is different than the chains he has, the spacing on the drive links is different but design is the same and the chains when put in the drive sprocket seem identical as far as any slop pushing or pulling the chain in the sprocket goes, everything's tight, but anyways here's a couple pics hopefully you can help me out.
it looks like the Oregon is 3/8ths low pro and the stihl is .325. They might fit in the sprocket but they will not run in the wrong size sprocket because the spacing between the dl' is different.
As Kyle says, you have 2 different pitch chains and they are not compatible. I'd the bar is a hard nose you can run any pitch you want on it in the proper gauge, a sprocket nose must match the chain.
What's it take to change the sprocket on the saw to fit? I have another offer of a dozen or so chains that I believe are the same size. What's the sprocket usually cost?
If you have the right bar you have to change the sprocket on the saw. They are less than $10 for a common 7 tooth and are very easy on inboard clutch saws. If you have a outboard clutch, probably on a husky you have to remove the clutch. I am also guessing you have spur sprocket on a 445.
I've never heard of a 3/8 Lo Pro clutch sprocket for the Husky 445. (That's the chain on the Left). 3/8 LP is normally for saws 42cc and under.
This is the opposite of what's on the 445, I'm familiar with the difference since my 372s are like this one, but don't know which is which.
That picture shows a rim sprocket on an inboard clutch. Like Kyle suggested, your 445 has a spur sprocket (integrated with the clutch drum) on an outboard clutch. The IPL for the 445 only shows one clutch drum/spur sprocket, and it's a .325 7T. It looks like it takes the same size drum that fits a 350, 346xp, etc, which means you should be able to get a drum that fits your 445 and accepts rim sprockets, but that doesn't get you there either because I don't think there's a mass-produced 3/8LP rim sprocket to fit those drums. I know I've seen threads on AS where guys have had rim sprockets modified or custom-made to allow them to run 3/8LP chain on a 346xp, but the bottom line for you is going to be that it won't be worth the trouble and expense just to make use of some free chains. Realistically, how many chains do you expect to wear out on your 445 before you decide to get a different saw?

This was kind of the conclusion I thought would happen anyways but figured everyone here would know a lot better than I, and yea that's the next saw that was going to be upgraded but if I could sell it with a pile of extra chains/bars that I got for free or dirt cheap it would sell faster. My next saw will be smaller than this, something for strictly limbing and small branch cutting, stuff around the yard when I don't feel like carrying the big saws.

Do you use these all sell them collect them just because? All I can say is wow! I need to figure out all of the saw chain sizes and what's all compatible with what.
I resemble that remark! I once bought a Husqy, because I was given a bar and didn't want to "waste" it.
If I had the extra cash I would, although I once"accidentally"bought a case of 20 gauge shells with out actually owning a 20 gauge, so that's all I needed for an excuse.
