I've been wanting to build some type of firewood storage for a while so I added a lean-to on the shed. I'm by no stretch a carpenter or a roofer but it should serve the purpose of storing firewood well enough. It should hold around 4 cords which is a typical seasons worth. Roof has a wave or two in it from 2x's warping but I think I can get past it. If it continues to bother me I'll level the wrapped pieces with a jack and sister it with another joist. I may end up adding another 4x4 to the header since it's a 12' span but I'll see how it does without it, there isn't much weight on it so it may hold up ok. :)

Anyway here are some pictures from along the way. Maybe I'll find some time this week to start moving some wood in.

Looks nice. I'm thinking of building one of the side of shed myself to hold 6-7 cord for the season.

    It's a weed barrier.

I've worked the truck before with loads of firewood but I've never flattened the springs like I did with 2 yards of rock in the bed. The drive needed some stone too so I loaded up.

Looks good and like the rock base that you added... Are you using skids to keep the wood off the ground? You'll wonder why you waited this long to do it, now...

Looks great to me. Wood out of rain and snow, three sides open for airflow, cant beat that. When's move in day?

That turned out really nice. Its always nice if you can keep firewood out of the elements.

Haven't decided yet, I'd like to source some plastic pallets but not wanting to pay what people want for them. I have some nice "pallet" type runners that I currently stack on that I may use, they're about 10' long and 16" wide so it's not a traditional "square" type pallet. I don't want to use standard traditional pallets since it always seems like a twisted ankle isn't far away when stepping through them.

I'll probably chip away at moving stuff in a little at a time. This week looks pretty busy but maybe this weekend I'll find some time.

Looks great! 2 yards of gravel-that had to be 5500 lbs!

Looks good rdust. Nice work. Now for filling, if it were up to me, I'd wait on filling that thing. There is a big heat wave heading our way and with temperatures in the 90's this weekend, that might not be a good time to be moving wood.

I also agree with you on the pallets. And if you want, I can bring you some 6' or 8' poles to stack on. Just let me know what diameter you'd like and how many and I'll be over.

Online calculator showed 1 1/2 ton for a yard, but I have zero ways to measure if it was a full 2 yards or not. It's a 2500hd with an extra leaf but it was still too much for it. I won't make a habit out of loads like that. :)

Looking good. That header looks like a 2x10 in the picture so it should be just fine without adding anything more.

    It's a 2x10, your eyes are calibrated correctly. :)
