During the big AS hack, all the great pics of homebrewed setups are gone. What have y'all cobbled together for auxillary oilers for your chainsaw mills? It's not that I can't spend the $50 on the Granberg setup, just that I am NOT spending $50 on something that looks like it costs $5 to make. I gave away a bunch of junk small 2-strokes just last year, now I am thinking an old gas tank off one of those would have been perfect.
take a gallon ( milk jug?) or 5 qt oil jug or anything similar, silicone a hose in the cap +one of those cheap plastic fuel valves will get you by ( red neck)
Too big BUT a 1 qt oil jug would work well. Easy enough shape to make some kind of holder for it. Got the old hamster wheel spinning now...
I rarely use my aux oiler anymore, since rediscovering this trick - from "Chainsaw Lumbermaking" by Will Malloff. Mix some ATF into your bar oil - I like to run about 1/3. The thinner oil stays on the links better for the long round trip through the cut. I'd wait and see if you even need one. If your chain is sharp but it's loading up bad, you need more oil. The aux oiler can get a little messy - if you do need one, make sure to install a valve, so you can close it as you approach the end of the cut.
