Weather is changing a bunch today.

An unusually active weather pattern for July is approaching today with rain here and Snow in the higher mountains by the weekend.

I am not complaining about the cool weather.

The house remodel project is winding down, and with the last of the paint work done on the walls it is nice to be picking up and putting the tools away.

Still some little tid bits left, but no worries.

    Really loving the final look.

Son in law text me the other day and wanted to know if I would go half on a plasma cutter with him.

Sooooooooooooo, he finds a basically new one on Craig's list for $600.

The thing originally sold for $700

Not a bad unit and works ok

    Then life got interesting.

The kid is rebuilding a flat bed he bought to go on his dually pickup so he can haul ?????

The old bed is rusty and nasty and he is trying to cut a 1/4" tread plate deck off so he can remove the original sheet metal deck that's under it (Rusted through in many places ... COASTAL RIG)

The plasma cutter soldiered on for about an hour until the cutting tip went away.

Of course the package of spare parts was missing.

I figured I could stop at the local welding supply and get some, ahhhhhh WRONG.

Unit is an Eastwood and everything is GET IT OFF THE NET.

    ARRRRRRGH.

Then there was the issue of waaaaaay too much moisture in the air coming from the compressor.

Plasma cutters just do not deal with moisture AT ALL

Soooooooooooo, go get a water trap (dual bowl) and a paint gun final word filter to go on the cutter itself.

Then the steel for the bracket to hold the water trap to the compressor, the bolts/nuts etc, hose, fittings and such to connect it.

Then there is the spare parts package for the cutter with electrodes, tips, swirl rings and other "consumables"

So by now we have added another $250 to the cost of the beast.

Really looking like it would have been far better to have ponied up the buckos for the $800 to $1000 unit that is fully self contained with it's own air pump.

Just plug it in and go.

    Never ends eh.

So now we wait until the spare parts arrive.

Would have been far better to get a name brand (Miller or ??) as consumables are readily available.

The rain has arrived, although still light it's coming down.

Was about 74 F this afternoon at 1 pm and its MUGGY now.

Will dampen the fire danger enough that by tomorrow we can burn some trash and junk left from the remodel.

    Nice change though.

Muggy here too, might have to get the dehumidifier out. I would rather not because it runs the light bill up.

Well, that would be great if I had any land, but I can't even get a fire permit because I don't have any place that is 40 feet from my house (except right at the wood fence at the property line - and then it is within 15 feet of the 500 gal propane tank - probably frowned upon). Had planned on building a fire pit, but in the last year the town went from following state guidelines of 20 or 25 feet (I've forgotten which) to 40 feet. I could probably have convinced someone I had 25 feet

Made several trips to the dump on Tuesday (vacation day). Two trips to take all the limbs from the trees I took down - I was pulling in to load up the wood from the trees, and a lady was there finishing loading them into her vehicle . So took one more trip to the dump with my trash, recyclables and the twisted creation of two dead 8' tall lilacs that were twisted all out of recognition by Oriental Bittersweet (which I had cut from its roots last fall so it was dead too). Looked like I had a giant vine wreath in the back of the Explorer.
