I hope the weather is cool to work in for ya. I think we're the only 2 left with snow in our avatars. Be well
That's about the only time I get firewood processed. Typically that is. I did split, haul and stack about a half cord of basswood not to long ago. But that was because it was on someone's lawn that had to be mowed.
On my ride today, I noticed another topped off Maple (Sugar I hope) that is in that same area that I'll grab. The deer fly will be bad, they nail that big spot that lost its hair pretty good.
I'll be getting our rig ready for cutting tonight, the two standing trunks (one pictured) will be felled first and then bucked up tomorrow before noon. I think both trunks are Sugar Maple so it will be some nice firewood that will get added to the inventory. I plan on running the small 310 on this job. It will finally feel nice to get out of this recliner and get some work done.
I just noticed this in the tallest one I'll fell tomorrow, I'll see tomorrow how much is in the tree behind the Sugar Maple.
I'm not sure what type of tree this is but we'll get it on the ground by Sunday depending on the weather, it's dead. The rides ready for tomorrow with some clean saws.
I'm not sure since I never noticed it until tonight but will make sure tomorrow morning before cutting it.
It's hard to see in your pic where the other end of the limb is attached. The tree missing the top is a broader sized tree, not sure the wedged limb will hinder. Careful cutting, something like that might want to spin on you at the base if it's hung up high
Ugh, I have a hard time time get motivated to cut and such in this heat. I've done it when I was younger, but now is my time for summer time R & R.
It has real good cover in that area and because I'll be in early it won't be that bad. The only thing that might stop me from cutting is my left hamstring, it's very tight which could limit my movement. I'll see how it feels after I take the heating pad off it. I'm not sure what's causing it but it also happened over the winter.
