Off to my brother in-laws new house for some scotch and cigars!!

 

Good morning, still raining with more rain and mid 70's on the menu.
Looks a good day to loaf around in the garage,,or on the couch,,
Happy Independence Day,,,try and keep all of your fingers attached.

 

Bailed on the camping trip yesterday afternoon and came home. Too. Much. Rain. The yellow lab looked like a chocolate from the mud.

I'll do a Lil cleaning today, and who knows what else. Anyone ever power wash a dog?

 

Well, four more days of work and then holidays. We have rain as well. More drizzle than rain. Hope everyone enjoys their July 4th.

 

Made about 9 gallons of applesauce. About to work on some 4H projects with the boys.

 

Here are some pics of the new sidewalk, driveway, the slab prep at the cottage and the slab. Garage is scheduled to begin tomorrow....while I'm at work and completely out of the way!

 

Are these apples frozen from last year?

These two baby robins spilled out of their nest yesterday evening from an apple tree. They are too young to be out and on the ground. The nest dropped down one side from a crotch in a limb. I skewered the nest back to the branch nice and snug.




I took some gloves and rubbed grass cuttings to hopefully mask any scent. I set them both back in. It was right at sunset and the parents were nearby.


Both parents were at the nest taking turns feeding them this morning. These two probably would not have made it since they were not able to fly into nearby shrubs for cover last evening.

Wasn't able to see my kids, so my bride and I worked on the deck. She got busy painting the deck with Rescue It, a paint and texture system.



While she did that I replaced deck boards and reframed a section of one corner of the deck that originally had a diagonal section that really made no sense.



It was pretty much a cluster so I had to do a lot of reframing and sistering of joists. I decided to continue the new handrail to that corner too.

We are both pretty tuckered out so I doubt we will even see fireworks tonight.

Thanks. Next step is to replace the old siding on that side of the house!

 

Great! Now a cookout to break it in.

 

Daddy, I freaking hate fireworks. Guns are fine, but mortars scare me.

 

Nevermind the fireworks.....peanut butter trumps all. Well, that and BB king and Eric Clapton screaming on the stereo as cover up noise
