yea, I ughh...was almost out of gas in the truck so you know...I didn't want to over do it.

Its easier to roll onto the trailer, I would have had a tough time lifting some of those rounds into the truck bed.

 

I hear that, I don't even put wood in my Jeep, roll them up in the trailer, or use a dolly to roll them up there

yes.. I know they are super ugly cuts, but the little 455 got er done...again,this saw never fails me.

Take a break, you deserve it. Not a think wrong with those cuts, you're working with what you got. I have cut a lot of big wood with my 455, once those are split it won't make a darn bit of difference what they look like now.

 

I was having a little trouble getting the cuts to meet, bucking With the 20 inch bar, cutting the big stuff today too.

 

Another option to think of is waiting till the creek is frozen over and driving over with a ATV or snow machine to skid out cut up log sections. It sounds like you got enough to work on now, save the swamp work for cold weather. Plus, no bugs!

 

thanks for the good idea mm, this creek never freezes though. As of now they told me they will probably be able to bring the majority of it across for me.

it would have been much easier with my 440, I just hate taking the time to sharpen my 28" chains unless I absolutely have to. Plus these were not placed on any runners and are on top of shale. I had to touch the shale a few times with the real big one, pretty much ruined a chain from having to file between each round. So worth it though!

 

ifn I had the size rounds your working with, I would def be takin the time to sharpen my big chains.

 

Yeah ya got to keep them sharp, but doesn't mean you can't cut up the big stuff with the 20 inch bar

 

The creek never freezes? Well, that takes away that option. I guess you don't get as cold as here. It's good that they can get it across for you. I loved you pics of the boat loading operation. It looked like you were your own one man military operation.

i shouldn't say it NEVER freezes. Just not solid. Yes it gets very cold here. Winter 14'-15' was my second season burning wood and I remember a two week spell that we had -2 highs, and for two months straight we never saw 20. Granted probably not quite as cold as your locale.

 

Thanks, Chief! I actually feel bad that I didn't turn this into lumber, I was just in too big of a hurry and was only thinking about how nice these will split and stack.
