Just some thoughts on a few of the last posts, I have been busy at work and need to take a little time off to smell a few of the beautiful flowers Will is pampering. Looks like you guys are really enjoying the summer. Jay, you and Joey can really boat the fish. I want to find a little more time to fish with my boys.
Snowy you are making me tired just listening to all the work you do. I have a few projects I would like to get finished around here.
bogieb very sorry to hear about the kitty. Hardest thing we have to do as pet owners. They are such a loving part of our lives.
Will and Steve nice pics. Love nature pics.
Wifey and I and a few other folks did take a nice motorcycle ride to the Catskills today. Couple of hundred miles. Sun got us some. I got a few Sam Adams cherry wheats to combat the effects. Good to have a little fun.

    Doggy

The little "Fur Children" are such a part of our lives, and so sad when we have to lose them.

We have had many little critters over the years and bar none the little Sphynx cat we have now is far more of a real Fur Child than any we have ever had.

So sorry to hear about your kitty bogieb.

The Kousa dogwoods were awesome this year , they last 4+ weeks .

Well, just finished a food shopping run for the week. Needed some smoothies, so along with the LaBatts Blue Light, decided to try something new (for me).....trying to help the local economy, so these 2 are going straight to the freezer so they'll be ready soon:

Rode to work this morning (couldn't resist the 60* temps) and managed to miss the rain that hit work just before I got there. Had a dry ride in except some road spray the last couple of miles - lowers are great, they catch most of that spray . Probably won't be so lucky this afternoon - but don't care but did prepare and brought my helmet.

Happy to see Tony Stewart go to victory lane at Sonoma! It's been an unbelievably difficult 3 years for him. we'll see if he gets in the 'zone' one more time. My opinion of Denny Hamlin, not a driver I particularly like, went up several notches with his actions on and off track.

Any particular reason for installing the blocks on their sides instead of utilizing the keyways?

we had two different styles of blocks. most of them had pick points on a flat side. only two had them in the 'tongue'. so we had to flip those two 90 degrees as we were setting them. not easy with an excavator.

They were the same before, but i agree, it would have been better tongue up.

Got zip squat nada done yesterday on the project.

I had a glitch in Google chrome browser on my main puter.

Decided to delete Chrome and reload it to get the latest version.

    Ahhhhh chit frank

Google stopped offering Chrome in 32 bit version for Linux.

Spent several hours fooling with things until I stumbled onto an article online that mentioned the fact that Chrome bailed on Linux support

    Arrrrrrgh

Had to redo all my important desktop icons to Firefox

    What a pain

I have always hated using the Fav listing in the browser.

Most important stuff "Like this site" have an icon on the desk top.

    All fixed for now.

Wish these software folks would stop screwing with stuff

Very little 32 bit updating is being done this includes the basic Linux distributions let alone any third party twice removed applications.

    Got it fixed for now.

    I am running "Zorin OS"

Great OS that looks like Win 7 (or others with a mouse click or two.

I had version 7 which was no longer supported.

Went to version 9 LTS and then the updater works swell.

    Still running 32 bit.

Going to get a fresh Hard drive and load a 64 bit version of Zorin 11 on it.

Good for now though and everything is running smooth.

I did a dual boot set up to keep 7 for a while.

    HDD are cheap
I think I may even have a 500 gig drive in the cupboard somewhere.

Buttttttttttt, we now have firefox 47 in the mix instead of 26 :D

I believe in " If its working leave it alone"

I have many old operating systems and can make this system run stuff from the 60's but I try to stay somewhat current with my hardware. My current base hardware platform is 64 bit, all of it is currently multiple core. The only issues I run into is when I do a major upgrade and someone decides they should get rid of a never used much piece of software and I have to hunt down the original install media or the newest and greatest multimedia player/whatever is out to lunch with errors in it.

I know there has been a lot of debate about dropping older hardware from being supported in new releases. I can make my system into a very expensive and extremely fast COCO but running mega bug isn't high on my priority list

A couple of pictures from yesterday afternoon. I arrived at the farm for a meeting with an attorney to see the guys setting up for Saturdays lift. We needed to get under the engine to clean the air intake chamber, and doing that was easier with the engine lifted onto another set of blocks. Notice the license plate on the 1972 Ford. The owner since new is operating the Northwest 80D crane in the second picture.

Still sorting out a few bugs, but nothing nasty, just little crap.

I am running a P5Q Pro turbo MB in this machine (Socket 775)
I always wait until stuff is a couple years old then pick up New old stock.

This board had been set up with a full load of hardware as a demo and never run or fooled with.

    Was a static display.

Came with memory, processor, cooler/fan, video card and a few other things.
    Win driver disc and book

    NO factory box though.

Been a great board for dirt cheap.

Installed it in an Aerocool "Strike X air" open frame

Got tired of the old egg shell looking upright boxes

This bad boy is just bad Azz looking

    Has a ton of goodies
    3 slide out hot swaps
3 bays for such as DVD/CD drives etc

A few pix of the beast

Looks like a gamers box. I have the tower and stuff from my old system. It may be able to handle a Pi or so. The current system is in a stock ASUS black mid tower case. Nothing fancy.

It has gotten to the point that the toys are cheap and fast.

I have more horsepower in my router than I had with several of the mainframe systems that did real work.
