He has more energy now then he did before, its quite amazing what medicine
    can do..

Here he is! With his brother and his sister.
Sissy is in the back, standing there giving me the cold shoulder..
shes pregnant and due in about a week.

Good luck with the expanding family, and hope Champ continues to remain comfortable. Those animals are lucky to have you for their friend.

I know you have only bought some time, but he is obviously feeling better, so am glad for you both.

We'll, of course, need pics when the little ones arrive!

Sounds like his doc is on top of it! I've seen some really good local surgeons but when it comes to a case like this a boarded soft tissue surgeon as well as radation oncologist may give him some options not otherwise available. I would recommend the veterinary teaching hospital at Illinois, Missouri or Ohio depending on your location.

This is a copy and paste from my facebook this morning...

Need some more thoughts and prayers

About 4:30 this morning Our 12 year old lab, Champ, had a very violent seizure while laying on his dog bed on my side of the bed. At first i thought he had a tickle and was simply scratching him self. The entire bed was shaking, the vibrations were far to fast and hard for him to simply be scratching him self. I knew immediately what was happening, i turned the light on to witness the most heart breaking thing i have ever seen him go through. Champ is an old man, he's a little over 12 years old. He is right up there with all of the other dogs that have had excellent lives. He is quite the strong pup. He has been my right hand man the past 8 1/2 years. This stuff is very tough. Most of you know i love my dogs more then anything. Champ is still with us, we are back at home and just keeping our eye on him. He began acting his normal self within 20 minutes of his episode. A little more on Champ... He has had cancer for about the past 5 to 6 years now. Like i said.. He is one strong pup. We have put him through a few procedures, he is currently on a few different medications to help with his cancer. Ya can only do so much for a pup thats this old. He is a big boy and big boy's dont live as long as you would like them to. Im not ready to say good bye to him yet, i wont ever be ready.

    I love this guy

Took Champ first thing this morning to our normal/ everyday vet clinic.
I had called them before i headed in, Doc wanted to examine Champ.

Champ is now blind in his right eye as an outcome of all of this so far.
I got some advice, was told for now to just keep my eye on him.
Ive been up since 430am, its now 11am here.
We came back home, i figured i would try and get a nap in and then plan on going into work.
I lay down for about 35-45 minutes and i hear Champ..
He had another seizure, this time in the hall way.

I immediately jumped on the phone and called our vet.
Ended up driving there and picking up some medication for Champ.
Right now, he takes 4 of these small pills twice a day.

Ive got a prescription to go get filled for the same meds but stronger, same dose.
It'll change the dose down to 2 pills twice a day.

    Thats where we're at.
Rachel knows, we've began discussing possibly putting him down and letting him
go onto a much quieter and easier place.

Im having a hard time just typing that up..

She's leaving work early and will be home in about 30 minutes.

Champ, he's doing well. Right now you cant tell there is a thing wrong with him.
It makes me smile but i am hurting very badly for him right now.
This guy has been my rock for 8 1/2 years now.
I can look him in the eye, tell him anything i want and he'll either turn away or give me
a whimper or a bark as an answer.

I love my dogs, this is going to be rough.

Ive been taking pictures of him all morning. I dont want to let him go.

Hang in there and no matter what you have to make the decision based on the dogs condition and not yours. That is very difficult but I'm sure you know that.

We had a great afternoon with him, yesterday evening was great as well. He was acting like his old self.

We all went to bed.. around 1:03 this morning, champ woke is up.

He has now had 3 seizures. The third being the worst.
It lasted the longest and took him the longest to recover from.

I just want to say thank you to all of you for all of the wise words of wisdom and excellent thoughts and prayers.

This has been so tough on Rachel and I.
This is so hard to watch and endure.
We are currently discussing having our vet out out him down. We can take him to the ER Vet and of course they will do it. But we want Champ's doctor to be the one.

    We believe it's time

Can't like that, but sounds like it is for the best. Don't hang onto him for you - tough as that is. Prayers for peace to envelope you all.
