Looking for a good used Stihl ms660. Does anyone know what kind of a price range I am looking at. And does anyone have one out there they are looking to get rid of?
I don't have a 660.. I have a 440 that I was thinking of parting with. I hate to. But I don't use it and would rather give it to someone to appreciate. It would be more than $750 though. Pretty rare model being an Arctic.
Welcome to FHC! I and am sure some other members would like to see some of your blacksmith work. Depending on what you design and make there are few headings that you could post your creations under. Axes, Mauls, and Handsaws DIY Hobbies and Interests
I don't mind spending the money but I would like to get a bigger saw with a little more grunt to run a big bar if need I don't seem to have much time to work in my shop due to being busy with the kids and cutting trees. But if I can figure out how to upload some pics of some strap hinges I made for my shop I will. I will post it under the DYI section.
Sorry I accidentally sent this reply to ChipsFyin I just want to make sure that you see my reply. I don't mind spending the money but I would like to get a bigger bar with some more grunt to run a bigger bar if need be. Thanks for the offer!
How big is the largest bar you'd hope to run? A 660 is probably best-suited to the 28" - 36" range. Is that what you're aiming for?
blacksmith is my tree cutting partner, Joe. So,treat him nice fellas....lol Some of you guys met him at the Central Penn GTG last month ....finally convinced him to learn some technology and join up with us. Here's a pic of him this past spring...
I would love to help but the waiting list at Casa Del Davisadumbass is currently at 6 saws for the MS660. I have a pair being built and another pair mostly pulled ready for assembly but they are getting more scarce around here. I have a Horrible little underpowered Husky 440 with a pretty dull chain I could probably sell Dave
I have a 660 I bought new in 2008. Non commercial use, no milling. Used it for cutting large oaks on private land into firewood. I've been thinking about getting rid of it as I just don't use it anymore, but haven't listed it. Saw is still really clean, I don't beat my saws. I can get pictures up this evening, maybe we can make a deal if you're interested.
