The empty pods are from a couple days ago. That was one day's pickings. A lot of those went into my belly!!!! Some went into the freezer. Same thing for strawberries. Over 60 quarts so far.

A couple pictures of one of the gardens. Raspberries look like it will be a good crop again this year. Had to add another string to the peas as they are still growing. Some are up to my shoulders already! Corn is a little over knee high. The corn pictured is about half of our total corn patch. If we can beat the coons. we'll be eating plenty and putting up plenty more for eating during the winter months.

I guess once you get farming in your blood, it is difficult to stop. We still enjoy working the soil every year and putting up food for winter. The work seems to be getting harder but it is still good for us to do and we'd rather eat food produced on our own land and with our own hands than to buy it in the store. It really gives a fellow and a gal good feelings to do this.

No doubt somebody has noticed there are a few weeds to hoe. That seems to be a weekly thing; sometimes more than once a week.

Water has been our biggest problem this year but we've got it whipped so far.

A great feeling ain't it! Love the taste of things from the garden that you've put some blood, sweat, and tears into.... Just so much better... Corns looking good...

Just came in from finishing my weekly weeding chores to shower and took a peek at your post. The wife and I have almost 7000 square feet of veggie garden so I know how much work is involved but I also know the amount of satisfaction that comes with the work. Hoeing weeds is a real stress reliever for me at times. After a long hot day of running a wheelbarrow and shovel and sledge hammer at work and having to deal with idiot costumers and lazy employees, pimppin out my hoes is pretty relaxing.

Dennis, speaking of water, can you put in a well near that garden? How far is it from the house?

I am very impressed with your gardens. Lucky you to have the land to plant those crops. That's a lot of work. Fresh peas, yum! Our peas are the sugar snap type. we eat the pods and all!
Your corn is right on schedule. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

    Garden growing good.
Getting lettuce & green onions from the garden
Getting cucs from the Greenhouse (put up 32 pints of Bread & Butter pickles )
    Good salads too.
Lots of green tomatoes, some should be ripening soon.

We love both of those. No berries growing here, but the beans are nearly knee high. That is good for this area. I have broccoli heads forming up. Getting some cherry tomatoes from the greenhouse plants. Those things are going crazy running all over the place in there. I have some in hanging baskets that have at least a 100 blooms. The cukes are climbing up the trellis. No flowers yet on the peas. Chard is still too small. Pumpkin plants are the largest plants among the squash. I'm having fun this year. First year in several I've been able to adapt to my disability and get something done. I'm getting about on one of those scooters. I take the tools I need and scoot to the area I want to work on, then move on or back as needed. Even run the trimmer from my scooter. Yes, It does look too funny but it works for me.

Only about 500 feet.

I also have a pump we use when getting water from a neighbor's pond and had thought strongly about running a line from the creek to the garden. I'd have to time it though to go back and add gas occasionally, or even perhaps putting a larger gas tank on it. The creek is actually closer than the house and the pump has a 1" line so pumps a goodly amount of water rather quickly.

I'll have to get new pictures tomorrow. Dark now. I had posted some a week ago. I've been keeping my eye out for a new scooter on Craigslist. I want a stronger one to hold this fat old man, and I wanted a four wheel version. This guy on Craigslist came down on his asking price today. I called him. told him I am a disabled vet in need of a stronger scooter. He agreed to hold it for me. I have to drive to New Hampshire in the morning to pick it up. About an hour and half drive. Price is down $400 from what he was asking. He is moving. Wife and I will go together to get it.

I went to NH and got the scooter. It is stronger than the one I have been using. Better for big boys! I have a picture of in taken in my yard, but no gardening for now. 85 F outside right now. Plus it is time for my old timer's nap. I got up at 5:30 AM too early for me on most days.

My plan is to get a basket that goes on the back, or an attachment that allows me to pull a wagon along in back of me. That way I can get my tools to where they are needed.
