Nope, not this year. Can't during the week because I we are undergoing ISO recert audits this week (I'm an integral part), so can't take off from my day job. And then I work at night too. Weekends are for getting stuff done like mowing, fighting poison ivy, working on house etc. Plus, since I ride alone these last three years, there is no reason for me to go; the past two years I rode thru the blvd at 9 am on Saturday to get my picture taken, never stopped, just kept on heading north. I don't need anything, certainly am not there to look at girls, don't like crowds (or people in general), and there are way too many idiots doing stupid stuff on the road. I'm also not out to be seen and I've been to Laconia every year since early 90's, so I know what I won't be missing.

I will do a little riding, but plan to stay away from the area. Saturday night I'm lined up to go on a Sunapee dinner cruise with some of the local HOG chapter. Don't even know if I'll ride to that as I don't usually ride at night (in the dark) unless it is a well know route and road.

This "Juneuary" weather is great for working in, but this getting up to 60 F in the house is starting to suck.

On and off showers not real helpful for trying to get my drapery brackets painted outside either.

Managed to get the dinning room drapes/brackets and rod all done yesterday.

Another part of the project in the books.

    Today is still a ?????????????

Not sure what we are gonna do today.

Still a fair amount of work left.

    Painting
One set of drape brackets left to build.
One drape rod to machine and polish up.
Some baseboard to cut and tack in.

The one window left to do gets valance only as it is close to the stove and there can't be anything hanging down.

    Ahhh well.

Just pick something and get after it.

Amen to all of that. Laconia has turned into a glorified swap shop and most of it junk. Seems like there is just not as much up there to do with bikes anymore. If you want t-shirts, its your place.

I have been up once in the past 4 years (last year) and was bored within an hour. People watching is OK for a short time but even that is best on weekend nights. I would have liked to see Steve Tyler last night but the thought of a general admission concert at a drive in that will be a drunk-fest has lost its appeal to me. My younger years I would have been all over it, but today its not worth the hassle.

Funny how that seems to happen in a blink.

Rode for year after year with nothing except goggles in front of my face and a skull cap on my head.

One July day a sudden storm hit on 9L and it felt like bee stings and June Bugs hitting me front on. Did a 180 to the bike shop and bought a wind screen, biggest one I could find. A very pretty purple it was to match the Mercedes Plum Purple the bike was painted. Went to an approved helmet shortly after.

My windscreen is only 6.5" - but it keeps the worst of bugs and light rain away (it is a recurve, so directs a lot of the airflow just up over my head). Still get plenty of wind in the face though. I tried a taller windshield (actually it came with this bike) and I really didn't care for it so sold it - I was glad I had kept the screen from my previous bike!

    Happy Friday!!

What ya all up to this weekend??

I have an MRI scheduled for Saturday afternoon. Seems every time I get a new Doctor, They just start all over again. This one is a little more involved and she asked for a higher focus level which might show the nerve damage? Sure getting tired of being poked and prodded though!! Hoping we can get to see some of the LeMan's race later in the evening as the GT's took the pole. Look to be pretty competitive , Just hope they stay together the whole race.

Then Sunday, its hit the lake with my son for some fishing...... We are way over due for a good fish!! :seasoned:

I was going to take all of next week off, But due to so many doctor visits and tests. I can only swing Monday thru Wednesday. Trying to save a week to spend when the boss gets her week off. and a Few mid summer days to spend with Joey. His driving test is due mid July. They don't due weekend appointments, So I'll have to use another day during the week. Always something!!

Monday were hoping to hit the lake again if my old body is up to it.

Tuesday AM gotta go get tires on the pickup and a front end alignment. Got all of the 50K the Good Years had in them. May have got a little more if the front end didn't get screwed up thanks to all the pot holes!! Joey has to get his wisdom teeth out, And has to get a consultation with the orthodontist in the afternoon. We'll start the day with Breakfast at our favorite diner. Or at least stop at Mickey D's for some egg Mc Muffins?

Wednesday we hit the big lake hoping not to many will be out as its supposed to be dreary(rain forecast). Looking for the lunkers in a few of our favorite spots we normally can't fish due to all the yahooers blasting around.. If not we'll go up north a bit to Winchester Lake and see if we can find some lunkers in the lilly pads. we both love to frog fish.

Have a great weekend all!! :drunk: :grizz: :seasoned:

Yesterday was not a real stellar performer from a progress standpoint.

Managed to get one more wall section painted that included taking the T stats and the smoke alarm off the wall to get a good job.

Got the last two pieces of steel formed for the last window brackets as well.
Picked up the last piece of aluminum tube (Drape rod) and did the machining on it to get it all fitted with a wood insert in each end to accept the Oak Finial on each end.

Weather has been unpredictable this week with Boomers blowing up by early afternoon and getting things wet outside.

Maybe today things will be a tad better and I can get some more baseboard cut and fit.

Here are some pix of things.

Worked sweet stuffing a wood dowel into the alloy tube and securing it with a set screw.

Drill the dowel and screw the finial into the end and snug it up.

Gives things a finished look and keeps the drapes or rods from getting dislodged from the brackets.

The tube and brackets for the LR window (still working on them) Cost $41
That was for the formed 14 ga steel pieces and the tube.
The finials are just under $10 a set

Pretty good deal compared to the store bought stuff, especially the sturdiness of the custom made stuff.

Gotta get the painting behind the Quad done before hanging the drapes.

Figure we can scoot the big screen out to gain access to the wall, then get the paint done as well as the brackets mounted and the baseboard done as well.

Then comes the final on the big windows.

Gotta take the entire setup down and paint the areas of the wall between the windows and then paint the brackets.

The outer tubes need to be fitted with the dowel inserts to accept the finials.

The WEST END JOB will likely take a day or more to get it complete and stuff rehung.

Once the main paint work is done we need to repaint the vent on the li'l whit and finish the faux stone paint work on the wall behind the stove.

Getting excited about having this task done.

Jt, that doesn't sound like an enjoyable Saturday.

    Snowy, you're getting there.

As for this old critter, my girls got me one of those tinker-toy sets called a smoker which is the equivalent of torture. It is one thing for me to get down another entirely different thing on moving around while down or getting back up. I might get it together by the end of the weekend.

Looking at a few pages of documentation on an ArmV8 processor, might spend a couple of dollars and get a Raspberry Pi to play with.

Ah you, are going to run a non profit, is it going to be a 501-c3 educational one?

ETA: got the numbers a bit mixed up.
