Well I did use to run a bogger and I did throw a few drive shafts and crack a few frames so yeah that coulda been me
Pallet Pete, Good Luck on the new job. "What will be, will be" It will work out, you'll make it work out.
Sometimes, change is what is needed to get us moved to a new spot in life. I wish you good health and fortune with your new employment. My brother in law used to work for the state of Maine in an office position. He became older and more cranky, unhappy. Then he took an early retirement and went to a truck driving school in New Hampshire. He had various driving jobs Some better than others. He only did local driving at end of his career. I would have never picked him out for a truck driver. Getting away from that desk did him a lot of good. I hope you find that same spot he did. Good luck.
Pete, you have been through a lot of crap and persevered, this is a big step but once you get started, I think you're going to have it down Pat in no time. You will be back in action Keep your ears on. I wish you all the best of luck bud. But where are you going to get the pallets for the next project?
Idk, maybe 5- 10 years ago? It's been phasing in. I'm no truck driver. I'm sure those that are could explain when, but it's been around a while. Auto vs. manual transmission: Data-driven tech better than complete control?
I never really talked to you much Pallet Pete, but I'm hoping when you get settled into your new job, and you back on the site we can go back and forth some. Good luck, it sounds like you are doing the right thing for all the right reasons.
We could all use a little more Pallet Pete time, am I right? Let us know how you are doing. We are all praying for you and wishing you well!
That's Great News Pallet Pete ... Congrats and Good Luck! Beautiful rig you've got there... You'll be in my thoughts and prayers...
Good luck to you sir. F.y.I when I started driving I learned in a twin stick. I also enjoy a 10 or 13 speed.
Slowly and steadily over the last 10-15 years or so. Once the computer controlled diesel engines became common, those automatic trans soon followed. The earlier ones weren't great but they have gotten better (some better than others I'm sure) and I'd say there are more automatic trans OTR rigs running down the road than not anymore. The city I work for runs all auto trucks now. Best wishes on the new position and traveling mercies to you sir! I don't blame you for wanting to go back to being one of us common peons...supervising is a real PITA IMO. My boss is trying to get me to apply for a foreman job right now...ah, no.
