I've been burning almost exclusively ash for the past 3 years. Throws plenty o heat on all but the very coldest days. Here in EAB ground zero (a.k.a. The land shaped like a hand) people can't give the stuff away fast enough! Seems like every other day someone's begging me to do a drop for them.
Love how easy it splits. Can use my orange maul and got most of them with two swings. Makes em easier to load. Then halve those at home and their ready to toss in the furnace.

I don't understand. Why is it your ash trees have leaves on them? Certainly there are very few around here with a leaf on them.
And there are a lot of leaves at that. Kinda strange to see really. I didn't pay attention to trees until the last few years so I've never really seen one nice and full. Some around here have leaves but they are very sparse.
Not all of our ash trees are dead here, some still have full or partial canopy. This one might have lived another 5 years, but it had a fork about 15 feet up, and when the back side piece broke off, homeowner was uncomfortable with just one forks worth on the house side still up there, so that was why we cut it down. I have a bunch on my property that you can tell are going, but still have maybe one third of their leaves. Many also completely dead but I'm so busy getting free stuff that is down i haven't had much time to cut them.
Even after they lose all the leaf, they can still be good for many years. But, about 5 or 6 years after having no leaf you do begin to notice the difference in the wood. Lighter and drier but still good wood; just won't hold fire quite as long then.
If you gentlemen ever make the trip out my way, and I hope you do, I could show you some really nice ones. I'd try to take some pics, but, well - you know..

Greg, here on my side of the state there are very few ash left with any leaves whatever. I have family in the mechanicsburg area and just recently visited them and all of the huge ash trees on their property are still quite green and full. It's crazy how in a 150 mile span there is such a deference. Oh and btw, nice ash dude!
Shawn Curry Thanks for the offer. I just may take you up on that one day. The girlfriend and I like to travel and see nature and we haven't been out to the eastern part of the country. So I'm sure we may get out that way at some point.
Split the ash off the trailer and then rolled up the other end of the pile, ready for some more loads, rain expected next couple of days, which is good by me, we need some now.
Helps a lot, but auto pilot where you pull two levers and it goes forward and back on its own is key so you can go get next piece, that and sorting table and log lift make it a machine I've been really happy with Great local dealer nice also
