I am afraid proper inflation does not make the TPMS light go out on my 2014.5 Camry. Are there any other secrets? I remember reading in my owner's manual that there is a reset button on my Tundra (can't recall where it is)

    They absolutely do.

A set of true snow tires vs any all seasons, including AT tires , gives you about 50% better grip on snow and ice.

If you've never tried real snow tires to compare, you wouldn't know the difference. But once you try them, oh man. Big big difference. On a rwd only vehicle, that huge difference is enough to make the car usable in winter.

Swapped ATs out for MTs last Thursday. Winter conditions call for winter tires IMO. People sometimes think I'm nuts. I take off aggressive mud tires in the fall and put on ATs with snowflake rating. The MTs are skates on winter pavement. Using this method, I have amassed 110k with original tires long gone, the MTs at 35% tread and the ATs at 60% tread. This may be the last summer for the MTs as they are 8 years old and starting to crack. ATs have at least two winters left on them. I'm figuring to see 150k out of three sets of tires...not bad!

I think the button for the Tundra reset is under the dash-I remember reading it in the manual. I'll check with my buddy (he's a factory Nissan technican) and see if we can figure out something for the Camry.
    Thanks.

    You are 100 percent right.
Mud tires are meant to "clean out" or evacuate mud out of the lugs.
Snow tires trap snow in the lugs to gain traction on ice and snow.

Live in Vermont and my good friend works at Jay Peak ski area... we always laugh when 80k AWD Audi gets stuck... it's AWD... and all season tire in VT mountains is studded snow they got an inch or 2 last week!

Wife has her regular summer tires and her studded snows on her Subaru Forrester ... she is:D me too..

I at least know how to drive my expensive awd audi. I laugh at those guys that have summer performance tires on their awd when they can't grip at all in winter.

Exactly! that was not meant as a dig on Audi owners that can drive! just at drivers that stop on hill on packed snow and stomp it and spin... light gas to get moving... lower gear.. not rocket science..

I don't fit the typical Audi mold. Or do I? IMG_20150502_115250556.jpg

Last night went to work and a lady there said she was waiting for a ride from her son since she didn't have her car. When I asked why not, it was because the care was in the shop getting changed from winter to summer tires.

Over 45° out, the snow tires wear super fast. That's why they grip so well in the winter.

This winter/summer tire thing is lost on a lot of people. they just dont know how much better winter tires are on the snow and ice. Every time i mention it i get "oh i have all seasons". That just means they get mediocre all year long.
Any car i've ever owned did a lot better in winter with snows. fwd i've used them on mitsubishi galant, pontiac bonneville and awd cars: audi a6 and subaru legacy.
People at work tell me their subarus are terrible in snow. i try to explain its not the car itself but the tires. (and the driver but i dont mention that) ... just blank faces.

I had a Subaru that probably had all seasons (we bought the car used and never changed tires in the 2-3 years we had it), and it did great in the snow. Maybe I'm just an above average driver :D
