There is a family that has some major issues that heats with wood outside Metamora. The wife has a chronic disease and the husband has chronic bleeding and now is anaemic and can't work. They had 8 face cord of firewood for the winter but will run out this week. Rdust and I are taking as much as we can this weekend to get them by till spring. When it warms up just before spring hits I would like to organize a cut trip while the ground is still hard and the green has not reappeared yet. There are a few volunteers from our friends and on the forum already but I wanted to put this up and see if more are willing to come. My goal is at least 10 people to make quick work of it. We will need another 2 splitters to go with mine and I will gladly provide food and drink. They are really nice folks from my discussion with them and I think they could use a helping hand right about now. If your interested pm me your info or reply here either way I'm keeping an eye on this thread. Thanks everybody!
I'm gonna take a good look see tomorrow when we get there and let ya know. That was my thought as well!
Dennis I just called and talked to them again. No they don't have much woods unfortunately but they might have a few areas close by. An update today her husband had a blood transfusion and and he really can't get around at all. They have a furnace but simply can't afford too fill the propane tank at $2000 they don't have the money so wood is there only heat source. I might even take another load sometime next month too.
Pete not sure I could make it, depends on date and if work is busy. But if you would PM me your address I could chip in financially. This is part of the pay it forward that me and my wife are doing because so many people have helped her out while she is going through Chemo treatments for awhile. Gary
To correct one thing, they're in/near Metamora, Novi is a pretty good distance away from that. I can probably come up with more wood if they need it. I need to see how this next month shapes up before I start giving stuff away that I may need since this winter has sucked so far!
Well Rdust and I dropped a load off to them today about 1.5 cord. They look like they fell on hard times for sure. He was a contractor for Home Depot and just lost two big contracts due to being sick. They are really grateful and as a matter of fact we have a new member from the sound of it! The Mrs just sighed up but I can't remember the or maybe she didn't say the user name. Here is the pic of the inside stack there is another 8' long by for 4' tall stack outside as well. Thanks to Rdust for sure he drove all the way to my place almost 2 hours away with the white out conditions in order to fill his trailer. Good dude right there! I'm still gonna do a big cut for them later this year too.
Boy, where's Dennis when you need somebody to crib those ends? Sorry guys, I just had to. I'm in on the cutting as long as the timing works. Nice job today guys, makes me proud to be a member! A C
Way to go Pete and rdust! By the way Pete I like the last part of your signature, really brings some meaning to helping someone out. Gary
The funny thing is I am very happy doing this! It's for you guys and I am proud to be a part of this site... It's fantastic to be able to express yourselves among friends and be totally free to do so. The fact is if you fellas hadn't done such a good job of getting along and making a laid back friendly environment we would not exist so thank you my friend! We really do this for you guys and you guys really are what make this such a great place to hang out.
Ok AC I take the blame I even said it ain't pretty but it'll do to which Rdust explained to the MRS what a cribbed end was. It's really bad and done fast!
I told Pete "we should crib the end, Dennis will get a kick out of it" Then I remember he's "Pallet Pete" he doesn't know how crib the ends. I take full responsibility for it, I should have made the end. I'm glad we could help, that should get them through the really bad stuff we have ahead of us.
