Blizzard starts tonight in MN 3-7" of snow tonight, then winds up to 55 mph. Low temp sunday night of -20 and a high of -13 monday and low of -29. National weather service says possibility of -60 wind chills.

Needless to say, brought in 10 bags of pellets and another 4 foot by 8 foot load of wood on the porch. I really got picky, finding the best of the best and set that aside for the next 4 days.

I am keeping the house at 80 degrees right now hoping the log walls will do their job with thermal mass before the arctic blast hits.

Warmed up to 9 degrees. I think I may have stumbled on to something with my stove. Been running all morning air one quarter open, flue temp on my probe thermo at 550, stop top at 750+ and had to turn the blower on to cool it down. House is sitting at 73 degrees! So far the experiment is working good!

Tomorrow warmest day in awhile-upper 20's. By nightfall, lows below 0, and winds getting us down to -15 to -20
Later today I plan on bringing a bunch of wood up to the deck.

About 15 degrees here right now, but where the sun is hitting the woodshed roof there is snow melting and dripping off - it is nice to feel some strength returning to the sunshine.

Couldn't have said it better BBar. My temps run exactly the same for my 2 story. I'm pushing to get upstairs up to 70 tonight and ride that for the next 24-36 hours. Eventually by Wednesday or Thursday I'll be back down to 60 upstairs. Downstairs runs 80-85 most of the time even in the below zero stuff. Seems like once we drop below 10 like Dave said... All bets are off.

Single digits and windy is what really screws me. Seems like whenever we hit single digits, we get the wind, also. When we didn't have wind for a period of time, completely different ball game.

18 degrees with 26 mph sustained winds and then huge gusts right now. The house is creaking something fierce.

-16 this morning, house temp dropped from 80 to 70 overnight. -10 for the high today so I will be burning through more wood than usual for the next couple days.

I take back what I said about this being a non-event. Terry came and plowed last night, to my surprise since we only had about 4 or five inches.

When I awoke this morning, before the sun rose I knew why he came last night. Incredible gusts, another six or more inches of snow. It is very windy now, sunny, more snow expected today and tomorrow, temps falling this afternoon again, another ten degrees, and wind chills tonight and tomorrow of -35.

Going out to get some firewood....

Were now unnder a winter storm warning:mad: We fall right on the line of 4-6'' and 6-8'' so Im guessing anywhere from 4-8'' of snow will be headed this way tomorrow I think Im going to run out of wood:mad: I was confident that things would be ok until all this arctic storm trooper nazi weather came through to stay. Stay warm folks:campfire:
