    It was a brand-new rental right next to the one I got I was thinking I could grab that one, hey I'll take this one, maybe the guy wouldn't notice.

    They go up for sale 2 years after HD buys them. The first Monday of the month the corporate office sends them a list of what to put up for sale. The HD website will show you what's for sale in your area once you put in your zip code.

    I'll see if I can swing one, then I'll take a look at what he rents then and sells them. My local HD doesn't. I've asked.

    Nope. It was pretty much get lucky or know someone. I stumbled upon it when I was looking online to rent a trencher. Then I asked the guy and he told me about the first Monday of the month. I got my saw by luck but if I wanted another I'd hit the website first Monday of the month early in the day.
