Starting to restore old axes to their original splendor and need some old axe heads to practice with. Haven't been too successful with shops here, so I am reaching out.

I picked up something in a Dayton pattern at a flea market two weeks ago. Haven't started on it yet to see exactly what $5 bought me...there is a mark on it. Tons and tons of axes there. I picked the one I did because the size and pattern suited my needs and because it was unidentifiable. The guys who had good stuff and knew it were asking $30-40. Since the one I bought couldn't be IDed either by myself or the seller, I took a chance on it. Flea markets, yard sales and such will likely net you some finds.

Are you looking for anything specific, $5 and under with rehab potential, draw knives, adze, debarkers, cant hooks...? I hit a bunch of yard sales, estate sales and flea markets thought the year for fun and see stuff off and on. I have quite a few different items in my "collection" that I use once in a while.
Here's a pic of axe variants. Axe patterns.jpg

Nothing specific. All of what you listed are things that I would pick up, in a heartbeat. I am not asking for everyone to stop what they are doing and hit their local flea markets for me, but if anyone sees something that is worth restoring, drop me a line. That ic of the different axe variants is great. Thanks for sharing it with us!

I collect antique tomahawks, and I've picked up some different splitting and felling axe heads over the years. I'll have to dig around and see where I put them.

I always have my eyes open for other people... I pass stuff up, hatchets and axes , all of the time due to just do not have the room or use. I'll see if I can find all of mine a throw a pick up on the Axe,Maul and Saw thread.
