    6'8" 330#... I'm skeert!

Like a built in log lift

Machria is an Ariens guy on here, my buddy also uses one. Subaru engines are nice and from the reviews the layout is superior for most H/V splitters.

IMHO I just dont think you need to drop big coin on a splitter.
Tractor Supply usually has a few spitters sitting there ready to go. And you just dont need more than 22 tons.
$1000 will get you the CountyLine 22. $850 on Black Friday. Grab a log catcher while your there. $45 IIRC

Hahahaha yea if I can't pick it up then I go Old Testament on it with my 35lb Maul then what's left I'll load on the splitter. I'm Likin them Ariens. Them wallensteins are nice but to much $. Huskee seems to have a good unit. Thanks for your input C. Maybe Machria can holler at me.

Boy, I may have mentioned this before...but there seems to be an usually high percentage of big un's on FHC...
    (6'4" 260 here...)
Anyways, do have have fab skills and equipment? Maybe get a deal on XYZ brand splitter and add a lift?
I gotta agree with MM though...not much difference between a $1k splitter and a $1.5k splitter (even $1.8k)
I personally tend to buy used stuff...usually wait on a smokin deal to come my way. A good deal on a commercial grade splitter bought used may be in your price range?

I've not used an ariens splitter, but the layout is really user friendly. Subaru motor, and every ariens machine I've ever used, seen, or owned have been extremely well built and reliable. Plus ariens are built up the road from me a few miles.

I've run 36" diameter oak rounds through the Huskee 22. It doesnt hardly grunt.
I would guess a few here have stalled one occasionally...but I'd bet not many.

The 40 year old Didier splitter I use is maybe 14 tons of pressure and the old Briggs is original at the same age. It has no issue splitting that twisted nasty splitting American Elm I like to burn. Yes it's not fast, but it has no issue with arguably one of the worst splitting woods.

So, anything over 20 tons will be just fine.

One of my few "wood hoarding accessories" that were purchased brand new was a Champion 23T during a Rural King of Ohio black Friday blowout deal 3.5 years ago ($699 fully assembled/running) I was planning on using it until I built a custom splitter, then sell it for break even money...but I have not found the time to work on building a splitter, and the Champion has worked well for me...so I have settled on just keeping it, at least for now anyways.
I splits 99.99% of everything that I throw at it, and the stuff that it didn't split, most people would have probably thrown in the "uglies" pile to begin with!
