I think most people like to read good news and here is some we are very proud of.

We have a member on this forum who can not get on here very often and now has problems even typing so he won't be on for a while again. He goes by the name of fire_man.

My wife and I were happy to meet him and his young son several years ago when we were at the Woodstock factory. Both Tony and his son are fantastic people and we are proud to know them and have them as friends.

But the really good news is that Tony's son was just awarded Eagle Scout!!!! He is a junior in high school and now to top off the Eagle Scout, he has just been offered a fantastic scholarship to a school where he has not even applied! They found out about his grades in school and the things he is doing for his community and have made a terrific offer. Hats off to this young man!

A great scholarship and earning Eagle Scout?

College is not cheap, and having Eagle Scout on your resume really goes a long way for every step of his professional career.

    Good job!

That is excellent and well deserved. I also hope Tony gets well. I met him again last fall at the Woodstock Factory when he made the drive up for the day. He lives not to far from me. If Tony needs help with anything, just let me know.

Very touching, and thank you for sharing Backwoods Savage
Is there anything we can do to help out fire_man? Or send his son off with a care package when he starts off to college?
After all, it is the FHC way.:)

Thanks Dennis for a great post. I was a boy scout so I can relate, I almost achieved my first class, but didn't. A proud member of Moose patrol.

Congratulations to that young man on a major achievement! As a former manager who hired lots of people, anytime I saw Eagle scout on a resume , I knew I was dealing with someone who could finish up any project they start. I'm an Eagle scout myself w/ a Gold Palm and obtaining that milestone teaches one so much that will be utilized throughout one's life. Great story, Backwoods, and hats off to that young man!:dex::salute:

Good to hear! I didn't join the BSA until after I was 15, and just barely managed to reach the rank of Eagle before I turned 18. It always starts a good discussion while on interviews.

Great post Dennis! So good of you to recognize someone special for their efforts. A lot of boys start out at a young age in the Boy Scout but not many get to this point as teenagers. Kudos to him!

Not much to do yet but we'll for sure keep an open eye on his wood pile. His son is not off to college yet as he still has one more year of high school! I don't know if he has been running the saw or not but for sure he does a lot of the heavy work.
