I have a couple but have had mixed results with them. So far all I've used for bait is marshmallows but much depends upon how you put them in and I have not had good luck using only the small ones. So far the best I've found is to get one of the large ones way down at the bottom and then the rest doesn't matter much. But I've also had to do a little reworking of the traps which seems odd. I did not expect this.
I haven't used those dennis so I'm no help there, but it sounds like you need to put Judy on coon duty along with those chipmunks!
Dog or cat food works well, as well as some sardines. The other option is to go sweet - mini marshmallows will catch a coon too. If it's particularly rainy, you can put a soup can over top - keeps mice from stealing your bait and dry from rain
i have had very good results with them, i use duke traps and bait with dog food ,sometimes i add a touch of fish juice or maple syrup ,there are different products out there but i am to cheap to try them Coon Grabbers | F&T Fur Harvester's Trading Post
Well sometimes we do good with them and others not. For some reason sometimes they don't go off even though nothing appears to be wrong with the trap and when I set it off, it doesn't take much to do it and I put the bait in so it is hard to get out of the bottom. I'm puzzled. And it is downright amazing just how many coons there are here. For sure they can eat up a lot of corn when they find it and of course, it is not that long before the corn has some ears and then they will really do the damage. And when they get into the barns or any building and crap, that stink is difficult to get rid of. Are the pelts worth anything now?
Can you tan and stitch? Someone was sayin Ol' Davey probably showed you..... Jus' kidding, Dennis.....
Yes, I can tan and stitch but don't like to do it any more. Seems I do remember that lad when he was about to head to Washington DC. After that I forgot all about him as I figured he'd gone bad.
they are worth nothing, there is so much unsold raccoon fur piled up ,fur fish and game magazine has a fur report every month which i always read as well as the natnl. trappers sassoc . magazine the only stuff in demand is coyote and far northern fur ( lynx, wolverine ,wolf etc. )a far cry from record fur prices a couple years ago,the chinese are not buying as much and the russian market was closed due to trade regulation political stuff ,so for now just use them to decorate ( sorry the pictures look like s, curry took them )
I use alot and have had good bit of success. Darn coons always get into my deer feeders, had to thin a few out.
