Iris and Lupin are some of my most favorite plants. Yet, I don't have a single one at this time. Borers got into the Iris's and the Lupin just won't take hold. Once the greenhouse is mostly empty, I'm going to plant some lupin seedlings and use native soil. See what happens then.

My bleeding hearts are self seeding. I'm always digging up plants to share with others. Never know what some will share with me.

The Bonnie brand concerns me. You can ck to see where they are grown. Some are grown locally. If they are from down south, I won't buy them because of my fear of importing blight. That concern was shared with me by my local extension service. Blight has wiped out my tomatoes many times. It cane come in with imported petunias and some other plants. It is spread airborn so once it gets started it can contaminate the whole neighborhood in no time. I try to keep a few tomatoes in the greenhouse. they don't get infected in there. Just by leaving the door open, they get pollinated without problems.

We decided to go with raised beds this year. Some herbs, strawberries, and marigolds in the blocks on the ends and all of our favorite veggies in the beds!!

This was one of our projects that we did on our vacation this past week. :)

Yeah, bleeding hearts should do well (I have them in another spot too), they too are not quite to their first birthday but they started blooming about a month ago.

I'm unsure how you tell where they are actually grown, but they have a greenhouse grower here in NH. I believe they are on rt 10 or 12 - I remember passing it on the bike last year.

Not sure about the weird jargon
I posted it from my iPhone and the spell check can do goofy things

Last piece of pergo just laid

After spending nearly two hours digging the last carpet and pad out from around the Quad things are moving again.
No room in there to work, so used a long (3 foot) screw driver to pry out tack strips and the carpet knife taped to a stick to reach in behind the stove.

Gawd I love having loads of room behind stoves.

It was nearly 3 pm before I got back to laying the last of the flooring

Going to build an insert to go between the hearth pad and the wall on the Quad to fill

This will basically be a transition from the hearth to the Faux painted rock look on the walls behind the stove.

Really went well, and ended up with a very reasonable "out of square" with the floor to the west wall at completion of about 1/4 inch, ahhhh, until we got into the North end close to the Quad, and the for some reason things went goofy (Likely wall is crooked) and the Pergo ended up about 1 inch away from the wall (On a taper)

Sooooo, cut a couple tapered pieces and snapped them in and once the baseboard is in things will be Sweeeeeeeeeet.

NO HOUSE IS SQUARE OR HAS STRAIGHT WALLS.

Took these pix just before I called it ENOUGH last night.

    Today is CLEAN UP day

First thing, pack all the odds and ends of Pergo back to the basement and sort out what is left over.

I want to figure out just exactly how much is left over (Full good planks) and then get it back on Craig's List as I feel zero need to store this stuff long term.

Being loose pieces they can get damaged easily.

Once the odds and ends are moved out it's time to get after the paint in strategic areas so we can get the furniture going back to where it will reside.

Still have waaaaay too much stuff in the rooms.

Two displays left from our office are going AWAY, and some other furniture is going to the Daughter and Son in law just as soon as their new "Shack" ($400 K plus ---2900 sqft) place is completed in another month or so.

All the New curtains are here now, so as soon as the paint is finished those suckers can go up.

Painting will proceed on an area by area basis to allow the remaining heavy stuff to be moved ONE LAST TIME.

We ended up buying 3 packs of those "Scooter pucks" moving gizmos to keep the new (to us) floor from getting damaged by sliding heavy stuff on it.

I am thinking that we are looking at about 2-3 weeks to get everything back to a reasonable facsimile of NORMAL again.

The "Rock wall" faux paint treatment behind the stoves will be a bit longer in coming to fruition especially behind the Quad, as it can't be moved easily (No disconnect flange)

The little Whit has a 4 bolt disconnect and can move out easily.

Still toying with the idea of a Faux window mural behind the little Whit. ???????

    We shall see.

I would like to take a few days rest, but if I slow down now it could stall the project.

Got a bathroom remodel that is half cooked and the new dual sink vanity is still sitting in the back of the family room needing to go in, so want to finish the dinning/living room up completely NOW.

Be far more fun working on a pellet stove he he he he  :rofl:

I looked this morning at what I bought Saturday Night-No planted yet. Nothing on the container saying that where grown, but the sale ad I heard (Radio or TV) stated that they are locally grown. I would ask but we all know the pellet answers we get there, so.......................

Dex, that looks like a nice set up. Looks like a lot of peppers are what you want.
I think I was at Lowes and found out that theirs were from a local grower. Always best to ask if there is a question about it. Darn late blight has wiped me out so many times.

That was all purple beebaum (sp) behind us in 2012, May 28, not ready to bloom. all gone now save for a couple of stragglers. I don't recall what we introduced to the garden after that but something killed it off. It had spread from a patch of perhaps 2 foot square in 2004 that an old GF brought from Avon.....she didn't make the cut:D

I work with a gal that has a few Farmalls. She kicks butt at the fairs with them in the tractor pulls.

    Burned out right now. :(

    Too much Pergo me thinks

Started in on the paint and the baseboard yesterday and sort of fizzled out by mid afternoon.

Got some masking paper and things yesterday to make life "MORE GOODER"  (A little friend in 1st grade used to say that one) never forgot it. 57 years and never forgot it.

Going to slide the furniture away from the wall AGAIN and get the first foot or so of the wall cut in from the floor up so I can tack in the new baseboard.

I bought a nice brad/staple air nail gun over at the Harbor but am actually more comfortable with drilling each nail hole at the precise angle to hit the wall plate then tapping in 2 inch 6 penny finish nails and setting them below the surface.

Takes a bit longer but better me thinks.

I want all the nails into the plate and not just the sheet rock.

    Onward we go.

No hurry Snowy. I don't rush to complete things any more, joints and muscles can't take it. Slow and steady gets it done.
