    I too was thinking that there was a rear handle for an 046/044 but I looked at all recent auctions that close and only uses andnew oem came up. And Hultz is on vacation for like 2 weeks due to Chinese new year? I guess that's the only time they get off?

    Oh I see that 10 and 12 come up, what is that? The intake port size? Or bearings?

    I see it has metal tags...... That saw just got a whole lot more interesting.

    Mike, check the top fins for the cylinder, are they diagonal? :drool::drool::drool:

    Looks to be a 10mm bottom end unless the cranks been changed out. If you want rid of it as is I'll be interested. I like the 44 and that tank don't bother me at all.

    As As the 10mm or 12mm, my 12mm 044 had some serious snot compared to other 70cc saws in the class.

    Don't feel cheated, here is what I posted on the other site.

    When I bought the saw I was hopeful it was a 10mm gudgeon pin based on the low serial number. But the cylinder doesn't have the angled fins.


    I read on Weedeaterman that saws with a serial below X29 382 283 have a 10mm wrist pin -- which this saw does. Either that info is wrong or this saw been rebuilt with different parts.

    Someone said this looks like a cylinder off a non decomp 440. Looks like someone did a little grinding on one of the top fins -- maybe to make it fit under the 044 plastic?

    Are we reasonably certain that you have a 10mm bottom end? Man I'd have to pull that cyl just to satisfy my own curiosity. Pretty easy to do on the 044 anyways. I wonder if the cyl has been replaced at some point?

    That doesn't look like Harry Homeowner grinding on the top of that cylinder in the pics. More like it was shaved in a mill? Could have been on the part originally. For sure this is a Stihl cylinder vs. an aftermarket?

    That's oem grinding on the cylinder. Most of them look like that.

    It might have been a 10mm originally (just based on the serial number) but I doubt it is anymore since it's not the angled top fin cylinder.

    Everything but the crank and pistons. You can swap the cylinders around but you have to pay attention to the ring ends. You can put a 12mm crank in a 10mm case if you like. There is a little work to get it to clearance but not a major ordeal.

    I was under the impression that you couldn't use a 10mm wrist pin piston in a different jug.

    So it is possible that it is a 10 mm with a 440 cylinder?

    The streaks can't be felt -- but below the exhaust there is a small patch of what I think is missing plating
