Well I was able to find this older, heavy duty grapple at a decent price. It is called a Rake Master. I just had to drive 6.5 hours to get it, and turn around and drive the same back. Looooooooong day of driving! And of course Pennsylvania is coming out of it's 1st season (Winter), and into it's other season (construction)! UGH! Oh, and I got there and realized I forgot my ratchet straps or chains. Had to go to Advanced Auto and pick a couple strong ones up. My neighbor was not around when I got home to use his chain hoist to take it off but I was just able to undo the straps and lift it off the truck, drive out from underneath it and set it down before it got dark out. Without scratching/denting my truck up! Sometime, when my neighbor has the time, he is going to weld on combination heavy duty hooks and holes/bushings in the right places in between the ones that are there already. So that it will work with my quick attach system. Hopefully he can copy what is on my bucket fairly easy and I'll be good to go. I wish I had more time to to check out some of the places I saw down there. Especially the eateries! Dammit. But I had no time to do anything. Just enough time to get down there and back. I got out of bed at 3:30 am this morning and was out the driveway at 03:45. Back home at 7pm. Hey. Any of you guys live near Harrisburg/York area? I went right down 81 and then 83 to McGrew Equipment. A busy place today. Boy those guys sell some stuff! There was traffic coming in and out of that yard like crazy. I think they had just had an auction a few days before. So lots of people picking up stuff they bought. But a pretty good size place and they sell a lot of stuff on E-bay. Every time I am looking at stuff I see stuff they have on E-Bay. There is only one answer. I have to stop looking!
Long day of driving for you is right. But you must've been pumped so it couldn't have seemed that long! Action pics coming up!
I was excited, and I enjoy taking a trip. Just wish I had time to stop and see some stuff. But had to get right back home. I hope action pics soon! My neighbor is pretty busy right now though. So it may be a while before he can get to it. Oh well, things are still too wet to go into a lot of places anyway and there is plenty of other things to get done. LIKE NEXT YEAR'S FIREWOOD!
Been to a ton of auctions in that area over the last 10 years. Seems like a lot of boom and bust cycles. How thick are those tines? Look to be 1". Hope it isn't overkill.
I think they are an inch. Didn't actually put a tape on them. But I thought about the fact that I'm going to be pushing along the ground (raking) with well over 10,500 lbs. behind it. I go slow, but still...... So I thought I needed something that was heavy duty that could withstand if I smuck into an Ash stump that is under the brush. Them bastages are hard! And if you just cut them recently, they don't move! Don't ask me how I know. So I think the grapple probably weighs 1000-1200lbs. (Guess) The loader is rated to lift 4600lbs to full height so that will still leave me with over 3000 lbs. lifting ability. I figured plenty for brush and logs.
Bet you're gonna love the 2 individual fingers grabbing odd shaped loads. Looks like a beast Gasifier
You should be alright with brush. Logs may get heavy fast Problem with grapples is it's easy to grab a lot of weight and not realize it plus it puts the weight further in front of you which affects balance and traction fast. It will work but small front tires may get you stuck in soft ground. You'll learn fast its capabilities . On hard ground stuff all it will bear to lift in the tines.
That grapple is gonna make the little 210 grunt if you go picking up large logs, but I think for your purposes Gas, it will both do the job and be indestructible. Seriously, I think you will break the tractor first. Looks like it was meant for an articulated loader or at least a bigger TLB like a 710.... Now, about that thumb for the hoe....
Done and done! I forgot to take an action shot! But I did move a big ol pile of brush, vines, and a few logs. All in one bite!
