All but one of the people I inquired with text or email, have not responded, probably already sold them but didn't take the ad down, I don't know why people can't go back and take the ad out if the damm thing is sold
Actually, most of those systems do not charge the battery or have a very minimal charging system at best.
That's what I thought because I saw some that came with a plug-in battery charger. I'm not really interested in electric start don't need that
The only reason I want a bagger is in some areas to pick up leaves. Make a pass and mulch them up then another pass and bag em
So what's the difference on these self-propelled, front wheel drive or rear wheel drive? Is one or the other better? traction, maintenance, longevity? Are they both belt drive, I never had one and never worked on one.
Most are belt drive, rear drive is usually better for rough areas and hills. Front works nice if the lawn is flat and you don't want to disengage after each pass. Lift, turn, and repeat. Quality of the drives will vary affecting longevity. Generally the more $$ machines had better transmissions.
I am changing my mind a lot, self-propelled, regular push , lookin at the different engines etc Lookin at new $200 to $250 maybe $300 looking at how the decks are made also a lot of them I see the front end of the mower is plastic not metal where the front wheels and Axle go kohler courage , good or bad?? Yea my buddy has one that's stripped out on front on a front self propelled. Why not just find you a basic model maybe even 10+ years old that's not rusted out and buy it for like $50 or less. Those old school simple ones are easy , run about no matter what and are light and easy to start with those like 4 hp engines or whatever is on them. Their problem is the decks always rust out before anything else foes wrong...even though it's a throw away engine. Most never get a new air filter, a plug or an oil change. Other get an air filter and plug if lucky. If you keep the grass out from under the deck when you store it it will last a long time.
that's what I'm looking at now is just basic push mower, but I'm looking at new. I don't think I want the extra problems that can come with a self-propelled somewhere down the road. And I don't want an old mower that I have to work on, a couple hundred bucks should give me a good basic mower brand new. I am over complicating this but I don't want a piece of chit motor that's not going to last
Don't go too fancy on a standard push. They start getting heavy. Those cheap ones you use to buy at lowes or HD or walmart for like $99-109 are so easy and light. Of course I haven't looked at push prices in forever. They probably cost a few hundred now!
About 3-4 years ago, I was having issues with the GT, so was looking to find a push mower at a garage sale. Found one for 10 bucks....an old Murray, barebones. It ran for 3 summers before it died. Three bucks a summer, gooder. I finally broke down and bought that new one a few days ago. You can find the cheapies for 129.00 all day, but no bag and small deck.
I parted out an old push mower that..I can't remember what was wrong with it, but I think was rusted out where wheels attach maybe? I parted it out for over $100 gross sale off ebay last I remember. Granted fees and shipping come out of that but I bet I still ended up with over $50 by the time it was all said and done.
