Black locust on E side of my place really reached out over neighbor's yard below, and 2 young kids. They asked for OK to remove it- I could take the wood (reducing their cost-unsaid). Sure, no problem at all. Suddenly yesterday arborist arrived, removing various trees including leaning pine and an ailanthus. Chipper-food. The black locust, I was ready for. They dropped it in big pieces. I hauled out a Mingo Marker (16") and my Dolly, bucked it, and hauled it out. First I had to "prune" the brush they'd hauled to their huge Beever chipper, to save some decent fuelwood. Bottom line: well over a ton of green BL. Cheapie NT wood cart made hauling rounds to the truck MUCH less difficult: Can you tell that my lil Ranger was squatting a bit for its extremely short haul? These sticks under the pile were saved from the chipper. 37" LogRite hookaroon for reference. Rounds are now stacked facing S, waiting their turn 'til a mess of apple gets hit with mauls. Same 37" hookaroon for reference. Rounds bucked to ~16" L. Image files were shrunken to ~1/100 of original filesize. That-all was quick, and sweaty. Gotta make some phone calls, to make some space available. Happy Memorial Day, Brothers and Sisters.
Not really, IMO. BL is fantastic stuff, once it's been thoroughly air-dried. Takes a while, but you see I'm in no rush. Yes, LogRite make really good tools. With that hookaroon, gotta watch that it doesn't take flight with some friends.
