Thanks buddy. I won't sleep 10 minutes tonight knowing the guys will land here tomorrow morning. I forgot to mention in my first post that my BP is dropping like a stone too. The doc is already cutting meds back. All because of music with a jumpstart from PT... whoddathunk...
My back has been bothering me from not doing much during the winter, as long as I don't overdo it, getting out and doing stuff more it is actually making it better, I just have to be careful what I'm doing and don't work too long.
Yup... this PT guy Mike has proven to me, by my results, that his stretching and strengthening of my core muscles would, over time, help relieve my L5 area. It's working. I never would have even started getting going tho without his help.
Stinny this is great news! Keep it up. I've suffered with the back back since I had polio in 1947 but worse after an injury in 1984. Believe it or not it has been just in the last couple months that I've got much relief, but it is very welcome indeed. Weight? Well, I was from 210-230 for many years. For the last year now I've been from 181-190 and presently at 187. Sure would be nice to drop another 15 lbs and I'll try through the summer. Finally able to get on the bike again albeit very low mileage and very slow, but able to ride again and that will help. Hoed corn today. Hot work.
My back loves my PT, she's also my wife. Going from having my left leg numb all the time and constant pain a few years ago to occasionally acting like I was 18 again is very welcoming. Keep it up Stinny , I can't play the drums but if it means I'd loose 20 I'd be willing to learn.
Great news Stinny Not only do you get your mobility back but you get some great music as well. We all will be looking forward to the wood hoarding pics happening in the future.
Stinny Glad you've rounded the pass and taken life by horns (or drum sticks). After my L5-S3 herniation and enduring pain for 10-11months I feel for yah - it can wear not just from pain but emotional after realizing you can't do anything you used to.. I went to 1 PT session after a steroid shot (that saved me) and the therapist told me I could do he stretches on my own. I was back to doing basically everything I used to without the things I did in my teens and 20's that probably wrecked my back, i.e. lifting dumbchit Funny questions she asked education & income levels - something tells me they see lower income folks give up and just say screw it I ain't going back to a low paying hard working job - just collect disability
Stinny all well wishes above are ditto... I am so happy that you not, only alive but starting to live again
Glad to hear you got better over time too Basod. It helps a lot to finally know for sure why I got to where I was, and now, a path out.
Losing 80lb and McKenzie's book and stretches worked for me...you just have to keep after it...doing those stretches just becomes a regular part of your day
Is this the book you speak of ? http://www.amazon.com/Treat-Your-Ba...&qid=1464294111&sr=8-1&keywords=mckenzie+book
I was going to ask that question too. We walk a lot but do nothing for the upper body area except firewood hauling every once in a while.
Yes, that's it. The guy comes across as arrogant, dogmatic and egotistical, but the stretches are simple and it worked for me, I also took a few Pilates classes, to learn the basics of that core strengthening regime and still do some regular Pilates.
