Toyota had a recall on these trucks problem with the frame rusting out in states that use salt to treat winter roads . Took mine in got a whole new frame ,brake lines & leaf springs on their dime:cool: Love this truck it hauls wood, pellets and Beer:thumbs::drunk:

One day this spring I'm putting true duals on for sure maybe a good valve seal job too. I'm really considering a flat bed and fixing the cab and frame up again. I LOVE this truck!

My best was a 99 Olds Alero with a 2.4 quad 4 engine. I ran it to 199k, bought it with a shade over 30k. Broke a few coil springs on the front, blower motor or blower motor resistor once a year, but otherwise a great car. It got painted around 90k thanks to a deer with a death wish.

Sold it to my FIL, he drove it for a bit over a year. My wife's cousin owns it now. It has somewhere around 230k last I knew. Engine has still never been opened, original timing chain, tensioner and water pump even. Pretty much unheard of for an engine in the quad 4 family.

That's one car I should have kept a bit longer. Others I got rid of I'd have been happy to set on fire and push off a cliff just to make sure nobody else had to put up with it.

2011 Toyota Tundra 11k miles. I don't drive much, but I love that truck. Had a GMC Acadia before that when I lived in Chicago. Really liked that car. When I moved back to CT and bought a house, realized I needed a truck. Only thing I don't like is the cloth seats. I couldn't get leather without buying the luxury truck. 2 labs ruin that cloth in a hurry.
2008 Pontiac Torrent 40k miles. My wife's DD. Love this car also. Test drove it in an unused lot in Chicago that had almost 3 feet of snow. Now in CT it drives like a champ. We have a flat gravel driveway of about 80 yards. Don't even plow unless we get more than a foot. She adores the car, so we'll drive it into the ground.

Got a 2000 Silverado Z71 in 03 with 70k. Drove it until 2011, then traded it in on my current truck. It had 279k and still ran great. Got 3k in trade.

The only thing I ever did to that motor was put an idler pulley on it and did plugs once. I did however put a rear axle, a trans, and transfer case in it over the years. Probably went through 40 u joints too between the six it had in the shafts.

Was a good truck still. I beat the crap out off it. Had it at silver lake sand dunes a dozen times, hauled an overloaded trailer for work for 3 years (100 mile round trip), and generally abused it daily. I was good at the maintenance mostly. Good oil and a quart of Lucas every oil change.

Pretty much all oil is good. I have run. 90% Walmart supertec / Warren oil co in the ranger the last. 150k changing oil is more important than type. Now I'm no comparing Dino supertec to Mobil 1 syn.

I always used Valvoline Max-Life, semi synthetic. I figure that plus a quart of Lucas, and went by the Oil-Life system for changes. That put me at about 5k between. Oil always looked very clean at oil changes until over 200k miles.

I use whatever I got the best deal on later. First was always supertec. Now it may be Valvoline, castrol, orily, whatever. Till about 240k it was always dark amber @3k . Never any motor honey, potions snake lubes or additives. Now its black after about 2k.

I have a high milage fleet.
    01 Cummins-230k
    03 Dakota V8 -238k
    95 Wrangler I6 -256k

Had a 81 Corolla as a teenager. It had been pasted around the family. I sold it to my cousin with 317k, didnt burn a drop of oil on the original engine. He rolled it within 10k. The last it was seen, the salvage yard he sold it to cut the top off it, put a torch in the back and used it around the salvage yard to pull parts. It was a good one.

Bought the Old Gray Mare 1990 F-150 in 2003 with 100k and it only had 145k when the frame couldn't handle any more loads of wood, died summer of 2012. The 300 6cyl was still strong as an ox. I pulled the rear end out for the new wood hauler Black Betty 1989 F-150 and the frame folded like a pretzel. Stole a few other odds and ends and sent it to the crusher. The new one got new fenders, bed side partials and a ton of rustproofing in every spot I could shoot it. I think the 89 must have come up from the south some time because the fenders and bedsides were the only thing with rust. She just turned 100k and has the same engine.

Love the old 150s . That 300 straight 6 is a beast! Tons of torque and gets decent fuel mileage and lasts forever. Requires little maintenance and is simple!
