Haven't used it in a while, got a muffler gasket because I found out there was no gasket on it, new air filter, clean it up a bit, put a little Sea Foam in the gas, sharpened the chain tuned it and it was rockin . Smoked a little bit at first from the sea foam, Idle is at 2500,, tuned high speed right at 12000, runs good right there cleans up in the cut. I don't have a compression gauge, when I bought it it was said to be 165 Hard to get a perfect picture but, What do you think fellas piston looks pretty good ah? On the gasket. raised ridges on one side, do they go in toward the engine or out to the muffler or does it matter? I put the raised ridges toward the muffler. Other side Raised ridges
Nice! 61's are great saws - built like tanks and seem to just run and run. Glad you got her back in business! Cheers!
61 husky is a workhorse for sure. Tough to beat the 200 series huskys. I have a 266se that i really love.
I was thinking the ridges face it at first but it kind of makes more sense to face the muffler. My thinking is the muffler is not machined face like the CYL and the ridge will contour to any inperfection? So we're thinking the same and I think your good. Like you said many don't even have a gasket anymore like yours did
Piston looks pretty good. Very light scratches. May have been run a little lean at some point or just debris scratches. If it has good power in the cut, I doubt I'd pull cylinder to inspect further. As the ring wears, you get a bigger ring end gap - that lowers compression. Might need a new ring if power drops.
Yep, that's what I was thinking. As you can see by the carbon on the bottom, it was leaking there that's why I wanted to get a gasket on it. IPL shows a gasket on it and I got it from dealer I don't hear it the popping now when it's idling so I think it's not leaking now
I was thinking maybe there is a aftermarket Muffler out there I could put on it that would be better. Is there? It's just a stock Muffler with no mods
Very nice made saw , strong and simple construction , simple for repair if ..................................................need
What would those be less restrictive than stock. I looked at some but I'm not sure what's what Would you show me an example?
