For some reason, this year I have a blacker smoke stain around my stove pipe than usual. Vinyl siding wash and a pressure washer don't have much effect. Anybody know the secret?

I used this stuff to get the sun bleaching and mildew off.

    30 Seconds 2.5gal. Outdoor Cleaner (2.5G30S) - Outdoor Cleaners - Ace Hardware

Never had any black from the pellet eater, So don't know if it would work. But it sure did a nice job on the mildew without pressure washing or scrubbing. Applied with a garden sprayer and let sit for 10 minutes, Then hosed off all the green stuff. Made the vinyl look much brighter too. Sun fade had it looking dull and whited out in spots. Looks to be mostly bleach for ingredients..........

Might be an indicator that the stove is much more dirty than previously......pellet stoves normally don't emit ANY smoke, no less black unless their choked for airflow.

A good internal cleaning w/ leaf blower treatment sounds in order.

I learned about the leaf blower cleaning about halfway through the season, so the damage was done...

amount of soot on the exterior wall depends on several factors.....wind direction, proximity of the end of the pipe to the sidewalls, the type of end to the pellet piping, type of pellet, cleanliness of the stove and piping, and the rate at which the stove has burned....slower usually is dirtier......also, a restriction in the intake air can cause pretty awful sooting. Barefoots are good pellets, so, my suspect is the lighter burning this season, as well as possibly how clean your unit is. You can also try and extend the pipe a bit away from the house more as well.

Jomax is a pretty good cleaner for siding as well.

Forgot about that stuff. We use it to clean the garage doors at the shop. Gets the diesel black off without scrubbin.

Why they installed white vinyl doors? :loco:
