Trying to fix a few things that are on my shelf .,,and decide what should stay..and what should go . This Pioneer Farmsaw that has no spark .I hear the coils/ignition modules are problematic on these . And this one has no spark..so Im assuming thats whats going on . Great looking saw though...kinda like it Thought it was cool that it has a decomp. knob under the starter cover that engages when the recoil rope is pulled !
I'm getting in to the old Pioneers myself. Always on the prowl for the 600 series saws/parts/memorabilia (a sign for the garage would be awesome). That is a nice looking Farmsaw there HonneyFuzz
Columbus Craigslist there is a guy who bought out a shop and has like 25 pioneers listed for 500 bucks. if honey fuzz wants to sell you can have first dibs if you really like pioneers. I have an old pioneer if you are interested. I just like to mess with old stuff, nothing in particular. this runs but I think it needs fuel lines.
I couldn't find that listing, but remember seeing it a while back. I'm really just interested in the 600 series saws right now. I'd like to track the guy down though and see what he has.
I just searched using, stihl pioneer, and it popped up 12/16. his number is 614 562 4657 says lots of new old stock parts too
Do you happen to know the spacs on this ? How many cc's and what size bars can go on it ? H.P.? I see that they are compared to the P38 and P39 .
Looking good! I'd keep it for sure........ I have my 3-4 modern saws, I think from now on I'm going to save old souls
Mike Acres chainsaw site is the go to place for info on saws. http://www.acresinternet.com/cscc.n...373683b7e144c81188256b00001f8ba0?OpenDocument
Thank you ! Its very satisfying to bring something back to life ..that has been given up on ! Let me know if you need any lost souls..I usually find plenty !!!
I can get lost on Mike's site for hours at a time. Here's my 650 recently resurrected. Runs like a champ and sounds awesome. Waiting on a bar from british columbia and I'll be cutting some wood with it.
I know that these "Farm or Ranch" saws always have bigger bars available for part-time use . I see on the specs that this thing can handle a 28 inch bar ! Has anyone on here done that ? Im sure it would be ok for that one or two trees on the property that needed a bar that big . I cant imagine it would be ideal though . It has definetly sparked my curiousity !
I think it would handle it for occasional use with a skip chain......as long as you're not in a hurry. I think on the longer bars it's more of an issue of whether the oiler can keep up.
Not too bad ! Thanks for posting that ! So what model does my Farmsaw compare to in the P-series ? I tnhought before that it was p38 or p39...but that 41 looks exactly the same . I dont know much about these Pioneers...but something tells me Im about to
