Rescue dog, maybe yes, or no ?

I can't imagine only having one dog. We've always had at least 2.

We got Badger the nonstop retrieving lab as a 8 week old when our elder statesman Farley, English Lab, was 12.

We then got William, English lab, 11 months now , when Badger was 5 yrs old.

We've had 3 dogs at two different times too.

They keep themselves occupied when we are away. They'd be bored otherwise.

Yes training another dog when you have one trained is so much easier.

 

She was mentioned as one of the 3 dogs we've had at a time.

She didn't really care for Mr William, as he treated her like another puppy, and she wasn't having any part of that. Also, her brain was starting to not work properly at times when we got a William . So, it wasn't a slight on Belly. Belle just would be antisocial as a result of her degenerative brain disorder she had.

She really did like having Miss Molly when Molly was around ( Molly, Farley, and Belly). Molly was 135 lbs of momma bear, Newfie/ lab cross. She looked after Farley and Belly .

It was fun watching Molly put the smack down on any dog attempting to start crap with Farley or Belly at the dog park. She never had to do much more than run over and give a growl or a bark, and that was it.

Belly was really happy running around outside, smelling for birds, hunting. When her mind, then body from the neurological issues didn't allow her to do that, she lost the thing that made her the happiest.

Sorry for the downer everyone. Having dogs in your life gives you intense highs and lows.

update- phase one complete- new cat(s).
2 brothers, approx. 9-10 years old. Tyler and Terrance, both males. They were separated for a number of years with different owners, then both owners became sick (one passed) and they ended up at the shelter together. Re-bonded immediately and are buds. Shelter people wanted them to stay together, so here we are. Formal introductions tomorrow with the rest of our beasts when I get home from work. Both cool cats, Tyler started purring the moment I entered the room, it was neat. .... aaannd on the dawg front.
Sat. I get to meet "Bear". 100lb. choc. Lab. He has a cold so I'll keep my fat dawg at home until he's better. But the wife met him and has her heart set. We'll see what happens.

That's a heck of a lot of chocolate lab!! There's something about retrievers and food, they never seem to get enough of it.

 

My 9 yr. old Chocolate lab Max is over a 100 lbs. Not sure how much, but I know it is over 100. He is good with our 6 cats and with our 3 yr black lab female. Female is submissive to him as are all other dogs who come to visit. If any dogs start to get too rambunctious, He just goes over to them and they stop whatever it is he didn't approve of. He just loves our 5 yr old grand daughter who lives upstairs. He follows her around in the yard wherever she goes. I don't think he would allow anything to mess with her. Somehow, he thinks it is his job to keep an eye on her.

 

Waiting on a update from sat visit how did it go

 

We called down and Bear is still sick, so we'll check again this weekend. Don't need to bother a sick grumpy dawg until he's feeling better.

Two labs at once? And a rescue? Have you lost your mind? Did you fall out of your rocker?

They will be waaaaay to busy for you!

but ...that means they are food motivated...and thats good for training!!
