Last load of splitter scraps in, pad ready to start piling for 17-18 winter. Letting her burn out, scrape down Saturday, and a little coating of motor oil inside, then put it to sleep. Burned continuously from 10/15/15 through today. 51916_1.jpeg 51916_2.jpeg 51916_3.jpeg

I won't do a final clean out until I know the cold nights are over and done with. Still some high 30s-low 40s in the forecast. I'm still building a fore right before bed on those chilly nights so we wake up to a cozy house.....

Right where I want to be.
I didn't bother with a fire last night or this morning. IAT was/is 66. Normally, that would trigger a fire, but not today......unless my gooder half makes a request for one.
Overnight/daytime temps should be warmer from here on, but I know where the firewood is in an emergency. :D:dex:
ETA: Update.....IAT just went up to 68. Close call.

I'm guessing we had our last fire of the season. No fire last night for the first time in a while. Wife cleaned ashes today and asked if she should take all of them out or leave some for the next fire. I told her to take it all off. :bug:

We haven't burned in about a month, sweatshirt weather on cooler days, and open windows on warmer days. My wife likes the cool.

I did the same thing last night. Hadn't lit a fire in a couple weeks before that. Wouldn't have needed one if I had closed up the house around 7PM but I didn't want to. So we had an "indoor campfire". :fire: :)
