Holy crap I have 80 alerts.
The bad, the yard got tore up some, the good, I got free wood, but I gave him 20 bucks for gas anyway.
The other good thing, I whacked off the end of this log and missed any metal, you see the cable hanging out there with an eye bolt in the tree.
I had to get my strap from under it, we had to pull one of the big ones out because they got stuck in the trailer.

That sly echo joke was cheap.....

But its something I'd do. But then my cs400 bucked up some 32" oaks before I could afford a bigger saw....

Nice score! Both the wood and the saw! I dislike cottonwood almost as much as boxelder.

Yeah, it's easy pickings though, I'd take it.

I've never heard it called tulip poplar. It's pretty much just like basswood though. Btu wise and drying wise.

I'll be working on a good sized basswood trunk tomorrow.

I need some shoulder season wood to go along with the high btu stuff I've got.

Tulip poplar and cottonwood are two different members of the same family.

HDRock I don't blame you for passing on the cottonwood. I'm like you up to my eyebrows in ash and other primo BTU's and not enough time to mess with shoulder wood.
