Today's load. Shagbark hickory, sugar maple and a few smaller pieces of beech. This was all on the ground, or slightly raised off in the case of the two smaller hickory trees. I split this load up, and hauled it home. I'll get that stacked tomorrow.
With no yard trailer, I marked the logs at 3 or 4 piece lengths then ratchet strapped then to the racks of the ATV. It wasn't the most efficient way to do it, but it worked. After I got the trailer to my buddy's house, I them cut them all up, then split them.
You can buy a small decent house or a brand new double wide trailer for the cost of a load deisel these days
Can't buy a tool shed around here for what that truck prob sold for. Yeah, I'd go with the truck too.
I'm not saying not to buy it in your case...I'm just comenting on how much they cost! Heck for what a stripped down work truck in half ton costs you can do an awful lot! Or buy several other toys.
I would rather buy used one that is has a few blemishes than a new one at that price. It's bad enough worrying about 14 year old truck, but couldn't imagine a newer one. Plus, I feel confident enough to do any of the wrenching on mine. Not that a newer Cummins is hard once it's been deleted. It's probably still easier than a 7.3. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
Some of the used prices are nuts to me though. I was able to snag the last 13 6.7 SD left on the lot when the 14's rolled in. I deleted mine back in august and once I got proper custom tuning it's a different animal. If I was buying used I'd look at newer high mileage trucks personally. I don't think I'd wanna buy one deleted though. I'd rather do that myself now..
Looks good man! A coworker of mine bought one over a year ago and has 50k now with zero issues. He tows his side by sides with it every weekend and loves it. I think you'll really like it..
I would by an undeleted one too as long as it checked out OK. An undeleted daily driver that isn't ever really worked can be bad too. These trucks need to be worked with the emissions equipment to be less problematic. It's the people that buy them and use them as grocery getters that most likely have the issues. You have to get those cylinder temps up on a regular basis to keep them running good. The in house ford designed 6.7 looks like a winner so far. I bet it's nice once deleted. They used cgi blocks on that one too, which is kind of cool. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
$20k buys a pretty nice 3/4 ton.. I looked at a lot of trucks. New half tons (with decent options) are over $45k. Average is over $50k. My little 1/2 ton ram stickers at $54k. Not what I paid because I am a haggler Most of the 3/4 ton GMC Duramax/ Ram Cummins I looked at were around $70+. I stuck with the half ton.. If I owned a gooseneck camper, or had bigger toys? I may have went with the bigger truck. But a couple quads and a trailer? The 420 ft lbs of torque that little Ecodeisel has should be plenty
BUT I can't take it home, drive it for my own purposes or tow any of my own stuff with it. So I still have to have my own vehicles.
Trucks in general are big money new or used. I've had a few different ones over the years. 1996 F350 with a 7.3. Had over 300k when I sold it. Decent truck, towed pretty good. It was what got me started on diesel trucks. Old Dakota I used as a wood buggy back around 09. Trying to keep on topic. Ha You can barely see the tailgate of my 08 gmc 2500hd with the dmax. I'm gonna delete it here soon, probably gonna run me 2k between a egr delete, exhaust with DPF delete and custom programmer to tell the computer the emmissions stuff is still "there". I could go a little cheaper, but I figure I might as well buy quality parts and just do it once. Coming from a 99 f250 7.3, the dmax has plenty of power, so I'm looking for a little more mileage and my egr code comes on every once in a while, so it's about time to change it.
