Those where the road crews so there. :p I scrounge a lot and had to make something to fix the OCD issue I have with firewood fitting my stove. Usually it's between 2' and 3' pieces that I pickup on the roadsides.

I just swear at it and try the split in a different stove. It's bound to fit in one of them.

You laugh, but it is a shockingly accurate description of my stove loading routine.

"Oh &%&$ you, you filthy mother &%&$! How the &%&$ are you not fitting into the &%&$ &%&$ Encore?!"
    - Proceeds to shove split into the 30.

"Oh, are you &%&$ing kidding me? Stupid &%&$ &%&$ fire brick! Two inches, I need two mother &%&$ing inches!!!"
    - Proceeds to shove split into the Defiant.

When I get one that doesn't fit in the Defiant I breakout the ax and take off the root system and the branches as I have obviously brought in an uprooted tree.

Pallet Pete's painted pallets perfectly poised for perfunctorily precise pruning of poles.
    Yep, that's all I got.

I got some wood recently from a tree service with more than a few that were a little oversized. It is a pita. I much prefer cutting logs myself. I put 2 more pallets under the box so I didn't need to lean over so far to load, unload or cut or clean up the mess as often.

Sounds like Papadave has been reading books like "Fox In Socks" and "Oh Say Can You Say".

What's the smallest stove you've owned? I can't imagine you trying to get along with this dink.

I have left the door cracked, waiting for the coal bed to settle a hair so I could get the #$%%^&** split the rest of the way in the#$%^& door. It was either that or take the smoking split back outside, I've done that too.

    Encore is 2.3 cu ft
    30 is 3.5 cu ft
    Defiant is 3.2 cu ft.

The Defiant is an E/W stove and can take 24"+ splits with no burn tubes to get in the way.

That was a claimed 2.3. But, it had a usable firebox size of about 1.7-1.8. The Encore is supposedly the same size and I had them both installed at the same time. The Encore can easily hold more wood.
