What to do in Nashville, if you don't like country music?

Looks like my wife and I, and hopefully my two Labradors are going to Nashville to meet up with some of her family.

I hate country music, and my wife doesn't like it either.

That said, there's got to be fun stuff to do there. Good food? We love food trucks, places we can take the dogs for hikes, we'd need to stay at a dog friendly place, hotel, house, whatever.

Maybe CSS some firewood? ;)

Anyone local or familiar with Nashville area?

Well there's a bar or six on every corner...so there's always drinking.

Mas tacos por favor, and biscuit love, are 2 restaurants we need to hit up. Also, some good fried chicken, Nashville hot chicken.

Life's too short for bad food.

Thanks for the garden tips. I do appreciate gardens. Seriously. :) I might just need to put earplugs in though. ;)

Shame you don't enjoy country music. Friends of mine live in Nashville and play in the bars on Broadway weekly. But there's definitely a lot of stuff to do in and around the city.

All good suggestions... Walk through the Opryland hotel and have lunch or drinks in one of the atriums, pretty unbelievable if you hadn't seen it before. BB Kings is great. The Pickers has a store downtown also, although I've never been.

I'm in Nashville pretty regularly, downtown nightlife is a worthwhile endeavor also.

Country music isn't my favorite but I did enjoy the music in Nashville. We'd go into a bar and have a few drinks and listen to a few bands, then we'd walk down to the next bar and listen to some more music. For some reason the music seemed to get better as we drank more. The tour of the old Grand ole opery was also good.

When are you going and do you like hockey? Predators are still in the playoffs. Fun team to watch. A win in game 7 vs the Sharks on Thursday will put them into the western conference finals.

Even though it's been 20 years since I've been there, the Hermitage is most definitely worth the trip and time. don't know how dog-friendly they are though.

That's something. I like hockey. I honestly am a Lightning fan though, NHL wise, but I'd go to a Predators game.

We are headed there over memorial day weekend. I've got a feeling that the finals will be over by then.

You sit at the bar and someone will be singing the blues for an hour. He'll get up and pass a pail around and you are supposed to tip him. (That's how they get payed) then a band will play classic rock for an hour, then they'll pass the pail around. It just keeps going all day and into the night. You may hear 5 different types of music just at one bar. Most of the performers are very good.

Yeah, probably not. A chance to meet more of my wife's family is a good thing.

At some point I'll hit a gtg.
