I just couldn't take it! The fall pellet fund just got whipped out! Been strugglin(severe backlash's) with a reel on my jerk-bait rod(which spring is the best season for using them-Great cold water bait). Took it apart this morning while I was letting momma get her beauty sleep........... Its old and worn out a bit like me. Had so many parts that needed to be changed the quote would have scared me.

So I had this idea for something new and while no one was looking I zapped over to Tackle Warehouse and ordered a Daiwa Zillion SV TW. Problem solved and gear monkey has left the building! I just could stand his blastin in my ear "You must buy it" any more!! :loco:

    rs (3).jpg

Now how to explain the $299.99 hit to the charge card! :makeitrain"

And wait for the brown truck to make a stop!! :ups:

Gear shopping makes me thirsty! Is it brew time yet??
    :pete:

the more modern skylights, built after 1990 or so, and properly installed on a decent pitch roof will be fine. I have two on a 12/12 pitch, and i roofed it myself to be certain there are no problems. ice melt all around, of course.

i'm going to install 3 skylights in our new engine building on a 4/12 pitch for natural lighting. they will be fine.

architectural shingles have 99 percent replaced three tab for a couple of reasons. the poor sealing of the 3 tabs led to lots of broken tabs and failed roofs, and more importantly, architectural shingles install much faster. they do not require alignment of the tabs to close around a dormer (HUGE advantage!!!), and you can use any shingle you want anywhere you want, as long as your seams are 6.5 inches overlap. with 3 tabs, we would use starter sets, and move the other portion of the shingle to the end of the roof. other guys would simply let the shingles run over the end and trim them with shears after. we still use starter sets, but you use the entire shingle as the starter.

3 tabs are still in use for cap material, because they get stupid money for the 'correct' architectural ones.

I am real pleased so far with how the new roof looks (They are still working on it)

They are installing better quality edge flashing than was here as well as installing all new roof vents too.

    Really feeling good about things.

I need this to last out my life without any BS

I'm 64 here in July, so 20 years will gitterdone

The earlier manuf homes got some pretty cheap stuff in some places, and roofing was one such place.

Bad place to cut corners. :picard:

I was looking at the way the shingles were going on.

Way faster than the 3 tab as you mentioned.

Even has a nail/staple line to follow. Now that is a good deal.

I found some original stuff had staples out in the open (Just sloppy workers there.

The fully laced valleys with the water/ice fully covering things will nearly make any leaks impossible.

The real sad tale is that the original roof only had a craft paper under the 3 tab, so there was no backup at all.
Anything that got by the 3 tab was gonna get into the sheeting and on into the house.

Very poor quality roof, buttttttttttttttt, it lasted nearly 20 before issues started.

The architectural should be harder for moss to get in and set up housekeeping as compared to the 3 tab.

130 mph rated and lifetime warranty

    Who's life ?????

There was this big bright thing in the sky and some blue sky instead of the normal gray this afternoon .
Dont know what that was all about, but managed to mow the front yard. Back was still too muddy.

Rode into work this morning - 32* at my place (a bit warmer where I work - 45 minutes away). first time in quite a while I haven't been rained on while riding. Not sure if it feels quite right or not :jaw:

Boys are about done with the roof and should finish it today.

    Looking great.

Very lovely silver white color too.

Gonna be great not to be worrying about leaks when the weather gets ugly.

Replaced the hood struts on the '00 Camry.

Installed the new alternator, cleaned battery terminals, cables, and motor ground point.

Finished wire repair, ran new ground wire, and wire loom wrap on the utility Trailer.

Pulled out the left-over poly (plastic) water pipe from (umpteen) years ago, to bury/ use as conduit for the camera wires running from the house -> out to the wood shed. Pulled out the 150' static safety/rappel rope to thread through the pipe as 'fish tape' to pull the coax cabling through.

Cleaned out the car in preparation for picking up the youngest daughter's 1st load of College Stuff later today. Checked fluids on all vehicles.

Mixed up some Hummingbird nectar, put out the feeder and the Mrs. hanging basket on the hanging plant pole outside. Cleaned up the Hummingbird wind chime, need to replace some rope cord, before it goes back out on the deck.

Opened the lid on the gas grille, shook my head, and closed it - will do tomorrow. Did zero (0) yard work - tomorrow's another day. Tractor is running well, ready-to-go. (Tomorrow's yard work, chilling, & grilling day.)

Off to pickup more college treasures - one down, one to go.. May need the utility trailer for the second trip. Eesh. :picard:

Have a great day all. :salute:

    perhaps you know this already..

make up a 'ghost' using a plastic sandwich bag and a couple of facial tissues or newspaper. the trick is to get the 'ghost' to fit in the pipe. tie like a 200 lb pull string on the 'ghost' , go to the other end and put the shop vac on the pipe. sometimes someone needs to feed the string in, but in a couple of seconds you'll have the string. tie on your rope and go. works great, even on 4" diameter conduit 6 or 700 feet long!

Nope, didn't have a clue - (smacks head), that's a heck-of-alot easier vs. slugging 3/4" nylon line through a 1" plastic pipe .. and cleaner too, this pipe has been sitting down in the dirt crawlspace for many years, left-over from when we replaced the well pump back in '03. Thanks artc !
