    Work is sending me to Amsterdam and the UK next month. Several interrelated projects are coming together and its time for a trip. Its been 8 years since I've been to Amsterdam Fortunately I'm in charge of my agenda, so I can add in an extra day up front so that I get a little free time. Otherwise it'll be 10 straight days of work.

    Our fly catchers have returned. Momma on the nest this afternoon. They freshened up last years nest in the rafters of one of the sheds. Have had fly catchers here every year for the last 10. Just getting the new Hummy feeders ready to go up.

    Kinda rant alert:

    So on the way home from visiting momma and the new baby I decided to stop by the liquor store and get some beer.

    Having just come from the hospital I wasn't carrying...but at the last second before getting out of my truck I had that voice in the back of my head telling me that I probably should be...so I did.

    I go in and see a early 20's short skinny punk rock looking guy open carrying a SDVE in the cheapest holster imaginable. I'm looking at it a little longer than usual because the holster doesn't cover any of the trigger....like none (stupid for carry).

    The guy is holding a 30 pack of cheap beer in both hads....and notices me looking and says something with a smart-azz attitude. ..don't remember exactly how he worded it but it was a long the lines of "are you scared of my gun?...I bet you are". I look at him and see all of his teeth are nothing more than rotten nubs....great...a tweeker.

    I'm a pretty big dude...6'4"...only 190 but a hard 190. So here I am with a cocky meth junkie...in a defenseless position (holding beer)....who is 8" shorter than me and 50 lbs lighter than me...who is probably high and maybe drunk....wearing a gun...and giving me some lip and starting to posture up. I'm on 0 sleep and not in a fantastic mood.

    I had 1000 thoughts go through my head in an instant. Decided that "no man I'm cool"...and turning around and walking away was the best idea. And that was the end of it.

    Seems kinds melodramatic now...maybe not. Y'all be safe out there.

    Most of it.....that's when I had use of a good deal of my brain.
    Hoarding wood, thankfully, doesn't require more than a few dozen cells.....
    At least for most of us, that is. Some are so well endowed in the unspoiled grey matter area :nerd: yet unable to grasp the basic necessity of 3 yo dry wood.:whistle:

    Not melodramatic at all. WWW had a similar encounter while fishing with the lil here a couple summers ago. The fool was showing the outline of a pistol in his trench coat pocket (not even a cheap holster).
