Had to bring more wood to the porch. It was a bit chilly in here last night so lit a fire before hitting the sack. Then I had to open a window for a short time during the night because it was so hot in here.
I've been able to get by with a fire at night. Everything is loaded up and ready to light. I'll do that around 9:00 then top it off for the night around 11:00. The house will stay warm through the day and then tomorrow night do the same thing. Saw the forecast earlier and it looks like off and on rain and drizzle for the next few days.
Put a fire in the stove again tonight. Stared with 5-6 small cherry splits + kindling in at ~6:30. Let that burn down til bedtime at 11. Threw in some hard maple kd lumber scraps before going to bed. Should get us trough til morning.
Stoves been running 24/7 all last week. According to a blip I caught on the boob tube, April, here, has been the coldest on record in 78 years.
Stoves on at the border... might go off for July... depends on weather 39 rainy and damp.. damp is not warm at 39 OAT..
That's pretty good when the forecast was for above normal temperatures. Not sure how April fared here with historical records but it was definitely below normal. May is starting the very same way. We have a fire going now. It is mostly to take the dampness out but it does feel cool. But then, as Larry so truthfully stated... (see quote below.)
I am not complaining - plenty of fuel- stove running keeps damp out no dehumidifier running sucking what little bit is in my wallet. Just got to down size splits.
May 5 and another cold wet day; however, the house is nice and warm with a cozy fire in my new stove. I had to climb the roof in the rain, clogged eavestroughs. It felt great coming into a nice warm house from the cold rain.
High of 50 here in Nebraska today with nightly lows in the low 40's. Been fighting the urge to light the stove all weekend. Just seems crazy in May. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yep. I lit a fire last night because the weather guru's were calling for mid 30's overnight and I didn't want to wake up to a cold house
