Wouldn't miss it Dennis! Only thing is, I feel like I sapped your manpower a little with my lumber demo. I'd love to do it again, but I'd make the trip just to make some firewood and some friends.
My intention is to attend and finally meet the Savage! Time would only tell. I do have some concerns though. Will there be more peanut butter pie? To go...? Do I have to drink? Do I have to stay up late? Can I still wake up early? Can I have a dry towel for the shower and be the first? Probably the most important, I am really concerned that when I do leave, people will follow me back to the U.P. It wouldn't work out for them as we still do the annual deportation every Labor Day for non-yoopers! (see image) Would it be alright to maybe just slip away unnoticed when it is time to go?
To meet the Savage in person was pricless. Since " The Most Interesting Man In The World" is retiring I am surprised Hollywood hasnt called him to take that job.
Another GTG would give me a chance to actually get some work done at your place. It was great to get to know everyone, but next time I'm headed straight for the woods. I feel bad about not putting any firewood up for ya. I do best when I get an early start. Put up a bunch of wood early, and then spend a little time BS-ing. Would like to hang out around the campfire, as well. First visit was definately too short. Feel like I let everyone down. Left after a short visit and was STILL in the doghouse when I got home!
I should be in the new house by then, so life will be a whole lot less crazy and more funds should be available for a drive/flight. Count me in!
Yes, the visit was short but you did not let anyone down here; maybe at home but not here. And as I had stated before the GTG, the top priority was to see that everyone enjoyed themselves.
Naw, that's not bad Dave. A few days drive. But don't believe that route through Chicago. It may be right considering only the miles but when you realize you go through Chicago, that would add many hours to the drive. That 64 hour route is the best for sure. That's the one we took when we went up your way but it has been a few years since we've been there. Too long actually but not sure we will get back there or not. Certainly would like to and if we do, you can bet your booties you'll have some company.
Plus, look at all those tunnels you'd have to dig... And who knows what you'd run into in Minnesota! Probably best to find another route..
Wouldn't that be a bike trip, Hauling the chainsaw & towing the splitter I could C&S wood for my nightly camp fires I'll head out about Jan 15th
A mere hop-skip and jump for me- 13:00 and 725 mi. Take I80 to Toledo and go north a bit on 23. Assuming there's a few square feet to set up a tent-doable. Frozen ground better for tent than squishy. We don't need no steenkin' excuses to go play- er- work with saws. A couple weeks time-separation from our Upstate NY GTG in late Apr. with our Dolmar-dealer-buddy could make it happen here. Can't avoid yearly "pilgrimage" to Saratoga area; it's like a rite of spring seeing how everyone's wintered out.
I'll be coming and bringing my play ATV and my dad's Side by Side (Kawasaki Tyrex). My old truck lost all my trust 2 years ago, so I went and bought a new one today Truck and a large trailer full of goodies. Possibly my splitter if it's needed!! My play quads (my 400 ex and my son's 300 ex ) And my Father's Tyrex! And the new rig!!
